Not all large companies are slave drivers. That said, it is true that if you cross-reference the Fortune 500 list with the list of the 100 Best Companies to Work for, there are few hits. I think less than 1 out of 4 companies on the latter list are Fortune 500 companies.

I have worked for 4 Fortune 500's. 1 is a slaveshop, 1 is not a slaveshop but a sucky place to start a career and 2 are great places to work.

Outside the US no one gives a ####### about fortune anything let alone your degrees. It's all about quality of life and your personal wealth.

Whereas, that ####### means something here. If you guys want to get technical, try fortune 20. Just saying..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Seriously, if I went to Aus and talked up working in fortune anything, people would laugh. People would ask how many hours did you work and what was your pay / benefits like. You definitely work to live over there.

Miss the perks I had in Aus, including a company car all paid for.

I used to work Fortune 10.

So did I. Funny thing is that while I no longer work for a Fortune 10, I haven't changed my job.

Did you get outsourced out to a different company or is your employer not doing so well?
