Good morning everyone! Hope everyone's doing well and that we'll get some resolution soon to what's going on in Lebanon.

Things here are good. Amed has the whole weekend off, so we are going to relax at home and maybe do some more wedding planning stuff. We may catch a movie or something, but hopefully it will be a nice, peaceful weekend.

My friend is getting married in 2 weeks, and we are having her "bachelorette weekend" (can you believe it? A whole weekend? Is that the new thing these days?) next weekend, so I probably won't see Amed much at all then. :( Then, the following weekend is the wedding, and I have the bridesmaid's luncheon, the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, rehearsal dinner after party, wedding day brunch, and of course the wedding to go to, and now she's talking about having an after-party at the hotel after the wedding. Phew. I'm tired just thinking about it!

I hope everyone has a lovely Friday and that we get some more good news soon!

Hey Icey! Sorry you were stranded in Charlotte! I know it must have been a killer coming back from Algeria without Yacine. I still get teary-eyed when I think of the last time I left Amed at the airport, and he's here with me now! It's hard saying goodbye.

Any news on your case?

LOL

It's okay ... I only had enough change to call my mom in Detroit and tell her that I was going to be late coming home...

here's the recap... I left to go to the airport in Algiers at 11 a.m. local time (6 a.m. our time) on Tuesday... I got to Tunis at 5 p.m. local time there... then I stayed 14 hours with a friends of me and Yacine... he asked me if I am hungry and he says OK cool let's go to my neice's wedding.. so I went and it was so awesome

Came to the wedding and they served a cous cous with a red color, with chick peas and raisins and chops of lamb.. and spicy vegetables and some kind of quiche.. there was a lot of people at the wedding.. but it was only one part of the ceremony.. the other part would be on Saturday.. there was a ceremony type thing where all the men started to take all of the bride's household item, proceed to load them onto trucks to be delivered to the couple's new home... there was lots of music and dancing going on.. so we went to the bride and groom's new home.. delivered the items.. and then all the women walked a couple blocks down together (yes there was like 40 of us walking down the street lol) to the mother of the bride's house and we sang and dance there... they did henna tatooing.. so we stayed there and were having a blast until 3 a.m... and then I realized.. oh.. my flight to London is at 6 a.m... so without sleep I went to Tunis carthage airport and left at 6 a.m... British Airways flight was great... but I ended up guiding a group of young Tunisians through the airport and through customs because they didn't speak english so they were having difficulties following the signs.. lol.. then I just made it to my US Airways flight from London... but the plane boarded... and we didnt take off for 2 hours because the valve that pressurizes the air in the cabin was not working.. so they fixed it and we left 2 hours late... and then there were 3 children all under 1 and a half years old sitting in front of me... screaming and crying the entire way.. I got noooo sleep at all.. then the in flight movie system didn't work... arrived in Charlotte so late that my connecting flight was already gone... then in Charlotte 4 international flights came in at the same time so it took over an hour to clear customs.. of course since I'm coming from Algeria and I was there so long they searched all my bags.. asked me many questions about Yacine... then the officer went to verify that I filed a petition on his behalf.. came back and brought me my passport... everything was cool.. then I got to the US Airways counter and they were telling me that my bags were too heavy?! I thought that was so weird considering that for my flight from London, they had no problem with my bag weight.. but I wasn't about to say "But my bags were OK for london" I was afraid they were going to go back and charge me for that.. so I closed my mouth, Upgraded to a first class seat so that my bag weight limit is pushed up.. At 6 p.m. (which I should've been home that time) they gave me a boarding pass that says plane boards at 705... I got to the gate at 6:30 and the gate says they are now boarding for LaGuardia?! I was like.. I dont wanna go to New york!! lol... I spent a half an hour standing in line to find out what was going on... lady told me Detroit leaves at 8:30... I'm thinkin, thanks for the heart attack...

so I waited and waited and finally boarded the plane. Got to detroit about a quarter after 11... Detroit metro has 3 terminals and they are spread out... you have to take shuttles from 1 terminal to the other... I just KNEW my mom was going to be waiting at the new big macnamara terminal .. because that's usually where I come in and out at (Because I usually take northwest flights)... so I loaded all my luggage onto the bus, got to the Mac terminal... could not find her in domestic arrivals... I went downstairs and she was waiting for me in Intl arrivals...

and boy by the time I got home I was really hungry (They tried to feed me pork on the london flight) I didnt even eat when I got home... talked to yacine... talked to henia and my friend from LA...

so whew yeah that was a big ordeal... byfar my worst experience with airports ever... lol... I don't think I'll fly US Airways again...I don't know if it's normal for their service to be like that... but oh well.. I'M HOME !! and still feeling jet lag..

I didn't want to leave Yacine either... I wanted to stay.. but I knew I had lots of stuff on my plate I had to get done when I got home... and I only have one week to do it... I know he'll be here soon... when the customs agent looked at our petition and processing he said everything was fine he just wanted to double check.. so.. it's all good..

It's funny I was trying to explain to Yacine where Charlotte is... he didnt know where it was on the U.S. map.. so I was just like "it's really close to where Amed lives now!!" And he was like Oh okay!!

No news on my case other than what the customs agent told me, that everything was in order.. I haven't been touched since June, and I don't think IMBRA will touch me because I would've gotten my RFE a long time ago... because my receipt date is way before IMBRA enforcement days.. I just think CSC is really overwhelmed and the processing times website says they are now processing for March 6th.. so I'm waiting patiently and if I don't get approval in 2 weeks I'm going to phone them or email and see what's going on...

Wishing everyone a lovely day :luv:

Also, sometimes when we talk on the phone I can hear all this commotion in the background and ask what it is.... he usually says it's a wedding procession like the one you saw! :P
