I-130 package - US passport requirement

Hi Everyone,

I am putting together the I-130 package for my wife. I am reading the K3 Visa Guide and it stated that I need to copy all pages of my US passport. Is that really neccessary? Would be sufficient to copy just the first page?

We submitted the bio page as well as the pages with stamp.

They asked for all pages so that's what I did, even though mine were empty. Think of it from their point-of-view. If you omitted pages, it would raise questions and that means an RFE and more waiting. Spend 5 minutes and photocopy the whole thing and avoid quesions.

Can we assume that you have lost your birth certificate, Certificate of Citizenship, or Certificate of Naturalization, whichever is appropriate for the circumstances of your US citizenship?

you just need that birth certificate or naturalization cert.

Here's my two cents:

A good rule of thumb in preparing this type of paperwork is to leave nothing open to interpretation on the reviewers part. Remember that there is not a right to these visas. So if you don't want to invite further questions / scrutiny I would follow the guidelines set by USCIS.

Yes it's a bit more time spent at the copier machine, but if it ends up satisfying the requirement and the process goes smoother and more quickly isn't it worth the extra time and couple of dollars?

If I were you I would at least notarize the bio page> Thats what i did for my case,if you really want to send a PP not a bC or naturalization whichever is applicable to you. Remember that sending all as they want is better.

For what pupose are you sending copies of your US Passport??

If it is to prove that you are a US Citizen and elgible to file the petition, they only require a copy of your certied copy of your Birth Certificate, or a copy of your naturalization papers.

If you have neither...then, yes....send them copies of all the pages of your US Passport. You can fit them four pages to a single 8-1/2 x 11 with no problem.
