I got home from my medical this afternoon and I have a missed call from Citizenship and Immigration (and caller ID only display's the phone number and not the area code....UGH!). I called DoS to see if there were any notes on my file, and they said all it says is that they have recieved all the information they need and it is still pending an interview date. Did anyone else happen to get a call? If so, what was it for?

Thanks!

Try Googling the number on your phone with the word "USCIS" to get the full number to call back.

Someone here did not so long ago, can't remember who it was or why they called, that's not very helpful is it

I can't remember who it was either, but the call was to confirm the petitioner's address!

And they didn't leave a message? Doesn't sound that important or they'd leave a message. Im sure they'll call back.

You could always change your message temporarily to indicate when you are usually home...maybe that will help ?

It was me! The Vancouver consulate called my fiancé (now husband) to confirm his address. I remember he said they called 2x because the first time no message was left.

Edit: this was after the k1 visa was already approved.

Hi Colleens,

Oh my, it is definitely unusual for the USCIS to make "house phone calls" to applicants. Lol...You sure it wasn't someone else that called? It must have been such a shock to receive such a phone call, even though you missed it! If they call you again, hope that they don't ask for too much personal information there, as frankly you are not obligated to tell any stranger on the phone such private information (lol..think 'identity theft' and 'fraud' here...). So take caution, and confirm that they are really who they say they are as immigration officials (for example, maybe ask them to tell you your case number, A number, or other identifying info that only they and you know and nobody else knows...)

"The USCIS certainly does work in mysterious ways, indeed...hmmm...."... .

Hope this helps too. Good luck with the rest of your journey.

If that's the case, really -

Then that worker used PRIVATE information (yours ) for personal gain.

Report them, asap - you've a security breach in progress back at the Canadian CIS.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Not necessarily -- she has her house listed, so it could just be pure coincidence that a CIS worker is looking to move and just happened to find her listing.

I suspect that it IS coincidence. Lots of folks work for the CIS and the housing market is starting to pick up.

I am also sure it is coincidence. A lot of people work for the government. My company gets a LOT of sales from the DOJ - just because we see their IP on our website we used to think we were being investigated... until the guys were just file clerks or what not buying product.

Yes...I have it listed privately on a site called Grapevine ( A home marketing site) so it does have my home number as a contact point. So, yes...it is just coincidence that someone from CIS is looking to by my home!!

I agree with everyone that this is only a coincidence, but you have to admit, it's one of the most hilarious coincidences ever!

Although I am pretty confident that all my paperwork etc that has been submitted is correct, it was a bit unsettling last night wondering what it may be about. But this morning.....yes...it was good for a laugh!!
