Guys,

Does anybody know if any of the embassies/cosular divisions accept DCF where both petitioner (US citizen) and beneficiary could do it just being physically in this country? Embassy in Moscow accepts DCF only if the petitioner is resident of Russia and it takes more than a year to get that.

Does anybody have any experience in filing in the third country? Maybe there are some with easy requirements for getting residency status if that is the only option?

Thanks!

I don't know for definite so I'm afraid probably not any help, but it sounds very unlikely that anywhere would not have some kind of residency requirement for one of the parties. I remember Meauxna saying she was not resident where she (USC) filed (in Greece) but I believe her husband was (even though he is not Greek citizen.)

I guess you're trying to find somewhere where your case can be processed quicker than your current options?

Good luck :)

Don't think so. 12010427.gif If there was, it would be the busiest consulate on planet earth. As for easy requirements to gain residency, I don't know the answer to that. Lots of folks do third country but after one of them has residency I believe. NZ is not one of the easy ones. I've been here two years & still don't have residency just a work permit/visa.

there are people whom on VJ used a 3rd country to file.

I really dont understand your question are you asking of you can file DCF in a 3rd country?

or Are you asking is there any embassys where DCF is open but, takes no time? I would have to say

yes there are embassys where DCf takes no time at all. me and my ex husband filed in a counry < DCF >

it took only a week for the process to compleate.. :D

Maybe I'm reading the OP's original question wrong, but what I thought he/she is asking is: "Can they file for DCF in any country where neither one of them is a resident. And if not, are there any countries where getting residency is fast so they can establish a way to file DCF somewhere other than Russia (where the USC has to be a resident in order to file DCF and that takes over a year)"

OP, please correct me if that is incorrect.

Yes, you got it absolutely right. And it looks like this option is not really available...

No, unfortunately it isn't. You have to count your blessings where you find them. It could be worse, some countries are more difficult than Russia. I took a quick look at the Moscow website and it has a lot of good info about K-1. Good luck. :)

Hello,

Australia had a relaxed policy on this.

My wife was there on a student visa, studying. I was on a tourist visa. Their requirement was that the applicant had to have a reason for being in the country other than applying for the visa. A student visa showing she was there for at least 6 more months (at the time the petition was filed) was the requirement.
