For the I-134, 4 current pay stubs, letter from employer, I have a letter from my bank notorized of the balance that was in my account.....and how long I've belonged with them.

Do we need the last 12 months statements of deposits?????? from them?

For the last 3 years I have copies of the W2 and taxes from my tax preparer guy... ....is what they are looking for too......I didn't contact the IRS for anything......Am I supposed to get something specifically from the IRS, or is this what they are looking for?

Just freaking out a bit......just want to make sure that I have the proper papers for My Love!!! Thank you for anyone who can help us!!!!

Tax transcripts are more valid as they show you filed. Returns ans W2s don't.

Easy to get and less bulky to submit.

800 829 1040. Free and takes about 7-10 days.

You can also have them faxed to you. Free service also.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

That's not true at all. As long as they have the tax returns with the corresponding W2s, they're fine. Tax transcripts are the exact same thing except they come in one page and the W2s are not needed.

Many of us decided to use tax returns with W2s and they're still valid. Not more and not less than tax transcripts.

Makes me feel better.......I read on someone elses topic, that If you make 125% over the poverty level that you don't need the bank statements as supporting evidence or a letter from your bank. Is this true...? The paperwork......is just unbelievable!!! LOL

It is true - if your income is sufficient (or you do not intend to use it as a way to make up any shortfall in income), you do not need to disclose the other optional areas (i.e., banking information, stocks/bonds, etc).

The important difference is that your tax preparer may or may not have copies of the W2 and 1099 forms to go with the tax return. If they do, there's no practical difference except sometimes the bulk.

Consulate generally PREFER the transcripts but they will accept either. Where transcripts alone don't work is when the return is joint and only one person's income is being used on the affidavit. In those cases, transcripts don't work because they don't indicate which income belongs to the affiant. This comes up when a parent is acting as co or joint sponsor or the petitioner divorced after their last tax return was filed.

Wrong Diana!

You can make out fake tax returns and W2s fairly easily and don't even submit them to IRS.

A bit more difficult to make out fake tax transcripts from IRS.

That may very well happen but the point is that a CO at the embassy and even the NVC will accept either one, a tax transcript or tax returns with corresponding W2s. A tax transcript is not "more" valid than a tax return with W2.

And by many of us I mean many VJ members.

You can take the "many of us" assertion to the bank. I suspect it's the majority. I already explained two circumstances under which transcripts won't do the trick at all but I do prefer them otherwise.

A tax preparer could go the whole nine yards, signature, official stamp, etc. but it could all be fake.

The transcript of 3 years past taxes, which is free from the IRS is PROOF that you paid the taxes & have the income.

Yes, they are. Nevertheless, Consulates routinely accept complete tax returns. It's always adviseable to include current pay stubs as well, if available. You can even combine transcripts and copies of returns. For example, if signing the affidavit in February, the most recent transcript is not available. Same could go for March, April or May. It's one or the other. All else being equal, I prefer transcripts.
