Is Visa needed for Canada visit?

Hi guys. My husband will be joining me on the 10th of Dec; and we are planning a trip to Canada. However, I am not sure if he will need to apply for a Canadian visa. He has CR-1 and his green card wont be ready upon arrival. I don’t want to make reservations until I know the requirements. So far, I have gone to the Canadian website and it says a “valid I-551 endorsement”is required. I am not sure what this means.

Once he clears the port of entry, he'll have an the necessary endorsement.

No he will not need a visa to travel to Canada. He will only need his passport which will have the I551 stamp in it once he arrives and clears the port of entry as pushbrk has stated previously.

The I551 stamp will act like a temporary greencard until the real one comes in the mail.
