Greetings;

I've tried searching all forums to the answer to my question, but to no avail. Therefore two simple questions: Is the CR1 processing time "around" the same as a K3 ? Specifically from the US Embassy in GUZ. 2nd, is the process more difficult or the same as a K3?

Thank You for any and all responses

Dj

I can't answer for China specifically but in general yes, the K3 and CR-1 process are (almost) the same duration. In some embassies, the K3 is 2-4 weeks faster.

I would say the CR-1 is easier, because you don't need to adjust status when in the USA, so that is one less set of paperwork and interview.

Timeline

1. There's additional work to be done @ NVC for an I-130 petition - a K-3 petition goes in/out of NVC within 1 to 10 days.

2. GUZ has a 'black hole' if you 'do paper processing' at NVC - the casefile is shipped via DHL, and then it waits in a warehouse for 1 to 3 months for GUZ to process it.

3. I would suggest solely the CR-1 visa / I-130 petition, ditch the K-3 in its entirety. The K-3 was useful once upon a time, but with current processing times, it's only 1 to 3 months longer.

4. If you file electronically @ NVC for the I-130, you can kill the 'black hole' @ GUZ - see http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...onic_Processing .

5. IMO, the I-130 is more difficult than the K-3 for PROCESSING, as YOU (the petitioner ) have extra work to do @ NVC. I think it's worth it, though, as it can result in a superior visa (CR-1/IR-1 ) and greencard issuance (without additional paperwork, fees or steps ) within 45 days of her coming into the USA. The K-3 , if she wants a greencard, requires ANOTHER AOS filing, with mostly the same data, on different forms, that you've already filed, plus another 1010 in fees.

6. Yer in Seattle? Yer homed to the California Service Center (CSC ) - historically, it's a faster service center than Vermont for the USCIS initial processing.

Other stuff.

NEVER EVER SEND IN the original white books on INITIAL SUBMITTAL - only send in photocopies.

Haven't filed yet? Work on yer 'bonafide marriage' relationship evidence - I've a blog about this over at http://www.chinafamilyvisa.com/forum/index...mp;showentry=14 (you might have to make an account first at CFV ).

Your timeline states 'BeiJing' for the consulate - are you filing a DCF'd I-130 ?

If you haven't had a look yet - read the I-130 guide in the GUIDES section here - train yer eyes up, find the word 'GUIDES' and click it, find the guide for the I-130 petition.

Warmest Regards...
