Hi,

I lived in Atlanta for 3 years. The lines thru immigration can be long especially if a few planes have landed around the same time. It all depends on the day...i've been thru in 20mins to 3 hours! Also in Atlanta after immigration you have to collect your bags and go thru customs, this normally takes around 15 mins. THEN you have to recheck your bags and go through another security check point. This can take up to an hour if it's busy. Then if you're on a connecting flight you can go to your next gate via the train.

I would definitley recommend more than a 2 hours between your flights maybe more if it's your POE.

I hope this helps

Amanda :)

I had a 3 hr 55 min layover at ATL. I arrived in the morning, the immigration line took about 15 minutes, I waited 15 minutes for the bags to arrive, the customs took about 45 minutes because there were a bunch of people have their bags inspected/questioned. Running around to find the right person to submit my brown envelope took 10 minutes and I had about almost 2 hrs to spare. I took my own sweet time, walked around the airport, had a drink, used the restroom and relaxed. It was all good, no rush!

Cheers.

Thanks guys!!

i will definitely allow for at least 4 hours then. that will also give us time to eat :c) Another question for your opinions...i have either the option of going through London Heathrow or Paris..which would you recommend? (service, cleanliness) I have only been in Paris and I was not very impressed.

Having been through both - it's kind of a '6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other kind of thing' (to me). I have not been through Heathrow since they completed renovations so it may be better now than 2+ years ago - Charles de Gaulle seemed fine to me.

I'd choose Paris (Charles de Gaulle or Orly) over Heath Row anyday.

Our POE in Atlanta was fine but a bit slow. You are allowing plenty of time, though.
