To be honest, I'm very confused about the terms ya'll use, as well as in your signatures ><

But I am new to the immigration process. I have filed the I-30 for my husband and am waiting for more information.

I am in America, and he is in England. I am 21 years old, he is 19.

Some things have made me more nervous...

* We dont keep emails, we use instant messengers :S

* I am not employed, recession has hit me hard since i met my now Husband

* Because of the last statement, If i need to fly to England or he fly to America for an interview - as of right now we cant afford it ><

But even though I'm a bit nervous, I will do whatever it takes for him to be here, or me be there.

Thanks everyone, I look forward to making my journey with this site & it's members by my side, haha

I know my timeline sucks, but my husbands P.O.E was on January 7th, 2013!

Greencard in hand! After almost 4 years, WE DID IT!

Welcome, make yourself at home. Read the Guides so you get to know a bit mroe about the process.

Have you filed yet? If not, I personally would recommend you do not file for the K-3; and go directly for a CR-1. why? because it is the best visa (can work upon arrival, does not need to adjust status), and it takes a little bit longer, but if money is a consideration you want to go for this one :)

welcome to VJ

Hi and welcome to VJ

K3 and CR1 are types of visas to bring your spouse to the US. Sounds like you've applied for a CR1, which is usually recommended over the K3 for several reasons. The main one is that it your husband will be granted a GC (green card) from the get-go, instead of a single-entry visa (which the K3 is) from which you would then have to file an adjustment of status (AOS). Because you're applying for a CR1, it costs less in the long run and he is authorised to seek and begin employment from the moment he lands in the US.

Neither of you will be required to travel abroad for his interview. If he's resident in the UK, he'll have to travel to London twice. Once for his medical, which has to take place at least a week before his interview and then again for the interview itself.

If you're interested in knowing what to do next, read the guides, browse the CR1 forum and check out the UK regional forum too. You can start finding out what additional documents you will both need to get once the petition for his visa is approved and the processing centre for CR1s forwards the petition to the London Embassy. This is often referred to as NOA2 (Notice of Action, 2 because it's the second notice).

Don't be afraid to post questions and prepare yourself for absorbing a LOT of information!

Timeline Summary:

K-1/K-2 NOA1 - POE: 9 February - 9 July 2010

Married: 17 July 2010

AOS mailed - Interview : 22 November 2010 - 10 March 2011

ROC mailed - approved: 14 February - 18 June 2013

Citizenship mailed - ceremony: 9 February - 7 June 2017
