Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu,

Bismillahi rahmaani raheem

Please follow the TOS Rules.

That's all I can think of for now. If you all don't like them we can do away with them or if I have missed something that should be there we can add as we go down the line.

How about a verse of the day?

Well in this case it will be a surah of the day but it's very short.

Bismillahi rahmaani raheem

"By (the Token of) Time (through the ages),

Verily Man is in loss,

Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy."

Al-Qur'an, 103.001-003 (Al-Asr)

I'd like to open the discussion with the question how does one justify calling a marriage "Islamic" without the elements of protection and enforcement REQUIRED in the sharia?

Isn't this the same topic that started the fuss before? thfire.gif

My husband also wants to know what kind of "protection & enforcement?"

He wants me to answer my own question. Tell him I asked it because I wanted to see what the answers from others would be, so if he has a contribution to make to it, he can make it.

BTW, I remember he was the one damning others to hell. Tell him that's God's job, not his. No disrespect intended, but it needs to be said.

When I look up the word I get:

The word "Sharia" literally means "the path on sand created by camels walking to water-spots" but spiritually it means guidance.

Yes you can download Quran Viewer 2.910 directly to your PC and read and search it. The translation is by Yousuf Ali and you can view it in Arabic, English and transliterated arabic (using english letters). It is from DivineIslam.com but for some reason that site is down. You should be able to download it here for free. I believe it is also available in French and some other languages as well.

To search ahadeeth... Bukhari and Muslim.

Hope this helps

That works beautifully for me. I can see what you say and comment on it, but you can't see what I say and comment on it. My advantage! Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I have some questions...I converted to islam a little over a year ago. We had an engagement party in morocco, but applied for our marriage license here in the states. My husband came on a k-1. After the imam married us, I contacted him a few months later for our "lslamic certificate." We already had one from the state. It stated the dowry amount and such. the only thing left that I think I need to do is register with morocco.

is that correct? or did I miss something? thank you for your help.

I don't recall anyone "damning others to hell." The only thing I recall seeing the past few days are comments by you that upsets a lot of people. Sorry, I'm normally the shy one that just sets back and listens to the debates, but not this time. For the record gals, my husband said this: "Those people who give fatwa which is wrong to make people doubt, he or she will go to hell." Since his english is not the best, he was simply saying that he felt if a non-muslim was reading through that thread and they were considering Islam, the statements that were being made could cause someone to doubt the religion of Islam. The one that would be "damned to hell" would be the person causing the doubt. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

I think it would be nice to share books that we have enjoyed about Islam.

One of the first books I read was The Road to Mecca. I have a first edition copy that I absolutely treasure. Another easy read that I a while back and thoroughly enjoyed was Muhammad: A Biography of the Prophet. The story of his life is absolutely moving. I think the latter is a great book for someone who is looking to learn more about the Prophet's life while enjoying an easy read and pleasurable writing style.

Two DVDs that my husband and I have watched together are Islam: Empire of Faith and Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet. I recommend both and they are available through Netflix!
