Good Day Vjers,

Though my wife's interview was a succses, we were dragged through the thorn patch before it was all over.

I work overseas, so my family and I flew 6 thousand plus miles to San Antonio, Texas- our original interview venue before the USCIS descheduled her, and I had already made reservations for San Antonio. Spent three days in Alamo city then headed to Dallas (Irving) district for the interview. Pass the interview only to find out that the supervisor would not allow the paper work to be completed there because... San Antonio was our district. So, her IO apologized repeatedly and promised to foward her file to San Antonio ASAP. Well, I'm a bit nerved at this point; common sense sometimes doesn't make sense at all. That same morning back at the hotel I scheduled an INFO PASS at... San Antonio Office on Friday one week before our scheduled departure.

On the day of the inquiry I was feeling anxious, ready for the B.S. they were about service me. At 2:05 p.m. we spoke with an officer about her case and our situation. She told us her file has not came in yet and there nothing she could do until then. At 2:11 p.m., while we were pleading our case, my wife's file just came through the mailroom. So, she told us to have a seat an officer will be with you in a moment. By this time I felling alittle upbeat, hopeful even. A few moments later Mr. Juarez introduced himself and lead us upstairs to his office. The first thing he ask for was our airline tickets and my LOA to presented it to his supervisor as evidence of travel. Came back and said" I believe we can finish this today." My jaws flopped open. After making some corretions he stamped approved on the N-400 application. I could believe it! Soon after, the supervisor and Mr. Juarez gave private ceremony for my wife. By 4:00 p.m., my wife was an American on a Friday in... San Antonio, Texas.

Hi Satiety,

Thanks for the update...(lol..hey, I remember you on the n-400 boards before, asking about tax returns...did they ask for such during the interview too?)

Congratulations on your wife passing her interview and having a same day private oath ceremony and thanks for sharing about that experience in detail here on VJ.

Despite the delays and rescheduling the interview for our wife, glad she had a good experience and it ended well here.

Interesting too, that she got the interview and same day private oath done all in one day!..What a great surprise and well deserved indeed!

Wow...This gives me hope too, that private oaths are possible!....(was wondering about that before...lol...)...Thanks..:)

Was there anything special that you or your wife needed to do for the private oath? Were you allowed to take photos for that as well?

Good luck with the rest of your wife's immigration journey too as a US Citizen and in getting her passport too.

Happy travels back overseas too!

Ant

Oh one more question (sorry, I had to ask...)..

How long was your private oath ceremony? Was it shorter, because it was just for your wife?

Length of the oath itself was maybe minute and half. That was it. The following week we went to the Dallas passport agency and received her passport book and card in about two hours, since we were flying in a couple of days.

Thanks for the extra info about ceremony length, Satiety!

:o ..a few minutes...That's really quick! Lol..definitely better than waiting 1-2 hours for a traditional group ceremony! Yup, private oath is the way to go!

Lol..makes one kind of wonder why they don't do private ceremonies more often..Everyone would save a lot of time there...lol....

Did they give the citizenship certificate at the same time of the ceremony too, or have to wait after for that?

Glad too, that your wife got her passport (lol..funny, how that was longer than the ceremony...) at the same week. Definitely useful, if travelling soon!

Happy travels to both you and your wife, both USCs...Congrats...

Yes ma'am. The certificate was in hand during the ceremony. Since then we've traveled back overseas to continue our lives in the desert.

:star: ....Wow..They sure must print them out quickly at the local offices!..Hmmm.....

Glad you got yours right away privately...no problems there at all and got the passport afterwards...

Good luck with your travel back to the dessert. Be sure to drink plenty of water while you are out there too..lol....
