Called AVR - nothing updated yet.

Well, AVR is still referring to the RFE checklist from Monday for me.

I think AVR is always a little behind. As cringe-worthy as it can be, sometimes it's best to just go through to an NVC agent.

I HAVE had a really helpful one at least once.

Hello my fellow Canadian vjer's

I mailed out my ds-230 last Tuesday. Hopefully by the next 2 weeks my case will be complete and the real waiting game will begin. I'm also optimistic that I will have my interview in March. Let's hang in their guys and hope for the best.

I'm interested to see if any of yesterday's K-1 interviewees heard anything from the consulate regarding CR-1 scheduling like the group from last week did...

Morning all... man, it is NICE not to have to race out of bed to a screaming alarm clock. I am chilled in my JJs and drinking coffee...

So, I has a curious for you all... I have been reading the other forums (bad girl, I know) and have noticed that a crapload of other consulates, like Manila and India and stuff scheduled two boatloads of CR1s yesterday... .

So... what do you all think? Will Canada follow suit or no?

I also have to be honest, at this point with all the plans we've made now, getting a December interview would be a bit of a hassle. So, I have my fingers crossed for January, really If December did come upon me, I'd deal with it but we bought a ticket already and have xmas plans.

Anyway, just Saturday morning ponderings...

:)

*edited for idiocy*

PS...

Morning, Wyatt!!!!

Lgg, all K1's that had/have their interview in November (with the exception of Danu) didn't hear about it until October 19/20. There is still hope that they will schedule some CR1/IR1 interviews for December.

Some people only got just over 2 weeks notice for their interview. This could very well happen for you guys.

Oh Lgg. Don't even GO there!

You want a December interview. You KNOW you want a December interview. If you get a December interview, you will be doing cartwheels and somersaults.

I've got Christmas plans too, but I will GLADLY cancel them if need be!

Hey Peachey!

This is true, eh? Well, all I have to say to that is "YEEP!" and I would hustle my buns all over the place and get it done.

I'm still waiting on a case complete myself...and in a perfect world I'd like to have this all over and done with before my husband is back from deployment. Montreal is lame. I don't think it understands that even though the USA and Canada are geologically close, it doesn't mean we can up and visit them whenever we'd like to. : <

Now now, Bern. This is a positive thread for HAPPY things. :D

I'm certain that the folks in Montreal are well aware of the issues. I don't think you can blame the consulate level, really...it's just that they're the most visible source, and it's easy to pin frustrations upon them.

The fact that the consulate director clearly reads VJ from time to time indicates that they care. I don't believe it's just a job to them...but when you lose a few staff members in a short amount of time, and still have a steady influx of ALL the visas they deal with (remember: it's not just family-based ones), combined with all the other things a consulate does (including passport processing...), it's easy to understand the backlog. Does that make us feel any better? Maybe not, but at least it lets you empathize with the reality that they are not big, mean ogres at Montreal...they are just overworked right now. And you have to look to the higher levels to help 'em out (which is why I'd sent a polite letter to the U.S. Ambassador to Canada, and others sent letters to other officials).

Let's not turn the Consulate in Montreal into one big scapegoat. Let's just be positive that they are, in fact, working through their problems, and will undoubtedly be doing some major CR-1 / IR-1 scheduling any day.

POSITIVE THOUGHTS, FOLKS!!

Fingers crossed that the Optimists win out and we all have interviews and are home for Christmas. I know that my daughter and wife are not too happy having to travel to Toronto to see daddy.

Good luck and hopefully a merry christmas to us all (or do I have to wait until after Thanksgiving to say that ?
