You can bring your own food in the plane, no problem with that. If you bought your ticket with a travel agent, confirm with them the fees you'll need to pay at the airport. But basically it's the terminal fee and the travel tax. Bring money with you for emergency. Try to bring loose change.

You got that right, the last time I was on NW flying from Hawaii the Phoenix five hours no food and you had to pay for water Cheap A## airlines. I'll never fly with them anymore.

Congratulations and have a safe flight! I must agree with what others have been saying about Northwest/Delta. I would never fly Delta operated planes. Nonetheless, have a good one. I am presuming you bought your ticket online hence the Philippine Travel Tax isn't included in there and you have pay it at the terminal before you board.

I must add here that for those who intend to fly out, especially on a one way journey, have a trusted travel agent buy the ticket for you. They usually get better deals having ties with consolidated airfare buyouts. These consolidated airfares get half of what the price seats cost and sell it to independent players at an average of 30% markup. If you insist on buying online try to buy from airline consolidator sites. Expedia, Travelocity, and the usual suspects aren't one of them. Most prices you see online are between 700 to 850 dollars for a one way Phil to US. With travel operators, they can get that at 575 to 650 and FROM better airlines. And oh, with PH travel tax already as well!

So, I suggest you buy from trusted travel operators. There are a lot out there.

When i flew to the philippines it was pretty good. The best airline i have flown on is korean air though. NW is pretty decent. Make sure you get up and walk around...also, bring some slippers to wear so you can be more comfortable.

I was wondering why all the complaints for flying Northwest. I wasn't aware that Delta owned/operated NW.

Now it all makes sense, Since Delta is horrible airlines. We have had 2 plane wrecks at DFW airport (DFW Is ranked the 3rd busiest airport in the world), and both just happened to be Delta.

It's so bad that Delta no longer is has a hub at D/FW airport.

come on..dont try and scare her. Out of all the flights that go on through the day and years, there are very few crashes. Being in the military i fly whatever they have contracted. I have flown a lot through the years....most of it on delta.

As far as anything else you would want to bring?? I would say a travel pillow...possibly a small blanket. If you have a music player of some sort, that is nice, but they do have quite a bit of inflight entertainment on the international portion. I know having a decent set of noise cancelling headphones helps too...I just started using some a couple years ago. They are great and you dont have to get the top of the line bose...I think mine cost like $40.

Hopefully you have a seat fairly close to the bathroom. The isles are sometimes hard to go down. On most flights I try to get isle seats so I dont have to disturb anyone that is sitting next to me if I want to get up. The drawback to that...you have the stewardesses bumping into you a lot.
