hi VJ members my wife got approved for her visa but still has to go back to bring new passort with surname. i called us embassy in manila and i explained to lady who answered i told her yes my wife got approved but we just need to drop off her new passport. i asked how long is it to finish the process she said we need to wait 2 to 3 weeks more till we get her visa. the CO told my wife as long as u drop of ur new passport u will get pink slip. so why did the lady say 2 to 3 weeks. i was thinking as soon as my wife drop of document personally they will make her pay courier and then we just need to wait but not that long. so is it true that we have to wait that long for just dropping of document. thanks everyone for ur help

Very normal, they have to make the visa and put it in the passport and then mail it, all of which takes time. Just get the new passport there asap.

If I have understood your question correctly, you are asking if you have to wait 2 to 3 weeks before dropping off her new passport? She should drop off her passport as soon as she has it. They say 2 to 3 weeks from receiving her new passport to returning it with the visa. But if you mean is it normal to wait this long for the passport with the visa to be returned, then yes.

it takes 14 working days to get a passport in the Phil. (expedite) and 21 working days for normal processing.

plus, once the embassy receives your passport you have to get in line to have the visa printed and put on your passport so they will tell you extra 2-3 weeks. Just be happy you didn't get denied.

Also, in DFA... if the husband's surname sounds too foreign they will ask for a copy of CFO certificate before they process your new passport under your husband's surname.

Check Phil. forum on how to obtain the Certificate.
