I play S3 but do find it disappointing that Maxis is trying to clamp down on free user-created content. That's practically WHY I played the game. I'm not paying $1.50 for a piece of furniture!

I don't think Maxis is doing that. EA bought Maxis in 1997 and has made most of the decisions regarding Sim games since then.

Okay, okay. I knew that. :P All Sims stuff will always be Maxis to me. My first ever computer game was SimCity.

I started with SimCity too :)

I belong to one subscription site, but the others I download from are all free. EA has even made it easier to create your own custom content, and formed partnerships with fan sites. Last year, they brought some of the most popular and prolific fan site artists to California to help design and beta test Sims 3, and report back to their sites. They realize that the innovation and creativity of the game's fans is a huge driving force for the popularity of the franchise.

I bought that game a while ago. I started with SimCity 2000 and you never needed cheats for the SimCity series. I think that was easy to understand how it works quickly, keep taxes low and watch your money :)

Sims is way harder. And it takes forever which is why I used the cheats so far, I had no patience and no time with a toddler on my hands. There is this cheat that gives you money and then the one where all their needs can be fulfilled. But I never heard of Nessa's cheat, that would make it easier. But I think they learn skills super quickly if they read the books, and you just keep their needs up so they can read it all in one sitting.

I like how smooth the neighborhood is, but I haven't found out how to play two families in the same town. It worked in Sims 2 but not now. Like you could create the Sims that you intended to be the future husband of your Sim... Now I have to put up with the computer made Sims... Arrrgh

I loved the pets add-on and would like to see it again, I could build my family more realistically.

Where can I get free content, like nicer wallpaper? It only comes with super ugly stuff!!!!

Yea, I was curious about Nessa's yellow phone, too. If you do a search, there's plenty of info about cheats and what they do.

I like how smooth the neighborhood is, but I haven't found out how to play two families in the same town. It worked in Sims 2 but not now. Like you could create the Sims that you intended to be the future husband of your Sim... Now I have to put up with the computer made Sims... Arrrgh

To play two families, you simply switch active household. The only thing that happens it that it cancels their current wishes, but they get new wishes when you go back anyway. You can create all sorts of Sims in the Create a Sims (CAS) window> I've created familes with husbands, wives, brothers and sisters, so they will have instant friends and family to help take care of the children. The limit for a group create seems to be 8 at a time, and you can choose their relationships as you create them.

I loved the pets add-on and would like to see it again, I could build my family more realistically.

I bet they come up with pets again soon.

Where can I get free content, like nicer wallpaper? It only comes with super ugly stuff!!!!

Try these sites:

http://www.modthesims.info/browse.php? - All free.

http://www.thesimsresource.com/ - Some free and some w/paid subscription.

http://www.thesims3.com/exchange - The official Sims 3 site. Lots of free user creations.

That's just a taste. There are dozens more sites from all over the world.

^ Honestly, last time I made the rounds was probably early October and you still couldn't make new furniture meshes yet. (MDS was still working on a program.) I'm actually really excited about what you posted but my damn CD isn't working anymore...so I can't reinstall. Ffffffff.

I hope you're able to work that install problem out soon. TSR has a Workshop tool for custom content that lots of posters use to create custom content, and there are several ways to make meshes, which are explained in easy to follow tutorials. MTS also has a ton of resources under the "Create" tab, including tutorials, guides and free utilities for creating and meshing. I haven't done either yet, but I hope to start creating soon after my new pc arrives.

All the sites I linked to have forums for Q&A to help better your use and play for the game. I even found a program that helps to create "hot keys" for cheats! It's a lot to take in, but well worth it to make the game is more exciting and fun when your own special touch and unique taste and style are incorporated.

Am I the only one who enjoys finding new and different ways to horribly kill my sims?

It was easy for me to kill them off when they were just dots in SimCity. Now, my simmies have names, lives, jobs and families, so I don't kill them anymore. But, you aren't alone. I do know of others who breed them to kill them.

PS - I do sometimes wish we could shoot the burglars . . . .

No, my CD is messed up/scratched beyond repair. My birthday is in two weeks so I'm asking my hubby for the game...again. ;)
