This question is for my friend.. his wife’s case is at NVC now and they just send out I-864.. but question is about birth certificate . his wife does not have birth certificate . how can this be handled .. in India some time family do not register the birth, now they can not get any birth certificate .. can they use there school certificate or some kind of affidavit

Please help thanks

Use a 10+2 school leaving certificate that lists the birth date. Or a ration card/voter ID. Attach a note explaining the case of unregistered birth. And also get a notarized sworn statement from the parents attesting to the birth.

yes u can also do this. otherwise go to DC office or suwidha cender get her birth registered!! (app. 1-3 month long process) or there r agents in the office they will take any thing in between5,000-10,000Rs. and give u birth certificate within one week!!!

They will also accept a certified sworn affidavit from her mom with all the birth information... My husband told me that most of the time that they use the school records as birth certificates in India, and I have also read that they accept them... My hubby was able to get a birth certificate from the court... but I also included the school records for the I-130 and the I-129F :D
