I ve received my NOA , Notice of Action stating I - 797C .

Is that the one everyone is talking about ?

Or does NOA mean Notice of Approval? Is it the same document?

Is my case already approved ?

What will be the next step besides biometrics appointment?

Thank you

NOA is short for Notice of Action - a NOA could be for 'receipt of case', 'transfer of case' or even 'approval' - the type of NOA you got is indicated on the notice itself (in other words, it would say approved if indeed you were and I'll just tell you now, you're not.) The first NOA is important though so hang on to it - it not only tell you they got your case, but it also is your 1-year extension notice (extending the PR/Green Card Status since it is very likely about to expire).

Your next step would be biometrics - after that, you get to wait (maybe an interview, maybe not). You should know - for removal of conditions, the first notice you get (the one you have now) has a receipt number - this number is not track-able on the USCIS web site (I don't know why) - the receipt number you get on your biometrics appointment notice is the one you can use to track your case both online or if you need to call USCIS.

Thank you so much for all the info very much appreciated !

I ve read also earlier they will start processing the case after biometrics are done actually ! They will proceed with "checking". What does it mean ? is it criminal background checking or does it include other checkings like where I live where I work , checking my SSN ...? Any idea ?

Then you talked about an interview. What is the probability or the percentage rate to get one? Should I get worried ? Did you get one ?

Thanks again

Well, if you think about it, the biometrics is part of the processing - from our point of view though, what you read, is kind of true.

My guess is - at some point in the process, they run everyone through 'the system' (I'm thinking mostly criminal background) to make sure everyone is 'clean.' They'll also look at your case and what you sent in and base their decission on all of that. I've never heared of anyone's employment being contacted - they really have no reason to do that.

Then you talked about an interview. What is the probability or the percentage rate to get one? Should I get worried ? Did you get one ?

If I had to guess without seeing the statistics (I've suggested VJ track those, but hasn't happened yet), I'd say most don't get an interview; but it appears that a certain number are randomly chosen along with cases that an adjudicator would kick back. So you never know for sure (if it happens, it happens). Did we get one? Not yet...We're not worried - we might get annoyed if we get invited to one, but not worried.
