interview date in Montreal

Hi

iam the benficary of the K3 visa , my packet 3 was sent back in 22 october 2009 , and iam still waiting for the packet 4 , i have been seeing pple waiting 3 months in their timelines especially in the IR-1 visa!

here is my questions:

is the the packet4 of IR-1 longer than the packet of K-3 or K-1 ?

do i have to call the consualt or any other service to check my status?

You need to call DOS in order to check if you have an interview date or not.

Actually, there have been a lot of people in the IR-1/CR-1 category waiting a longer period of time to get an interview date from Montreal. I believe there are still some July filers still waiting on an interview date.

The way Montreal assigns interviews is mostly a mystery to us. It seems like they schedule a group of K interviews, then a group of CR-1/IR-1 interviews a month or two later. So, nobody can say for sure which is faster as far as getting an interview goes. The quick turnovers you are seeing may be individuals who DCF'd, which is faster.

It hasn't been very long since you sent your packet 3 back, so I wouldn't be worrying or even bothering to inquire just yet. If you want to check the status of your case you can call the Department of State (DOS) and they will provide you with any information they have. The number is: 202-663-1225. They will tell you if you have an interview date.
