Don't know the best place to post this so I am putting it here since we have reached the last step.

My wife was naturalized back in July.

Nice to know Visa Journey was there every step of the way.

My wifes mother arrived in August, her brother is the only relative left in Ukraine. I don't know if we will need any more visas for awhile. Maybe if her brother decides to come for a visit or to work.

My stepson is over 18, so if he wants to become a citizen it is really his choice. I hope this will happen. If he returns to Ukraine he may be forced to enter the military.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Lorenzo,

Congratulations on your wife becoming a US Citizen in July. :star:

And good luck with her sponsoring the rest of her family over to the USA too.

I agree, it's nice to know that VJ has been there, as it is helpful and there are nice people here, indeed!

Thanks for making this VJ community a better place too, by sharing your experiences here...:)

What kind of visa for her mom, and how long can she stay (just curious).

For petitioning a step child, sponsoring USC is the key person, provided the child is under 21 and is single, but out of the loop if over 21, then the biological parent carries the ball and as a LPR, may even add 4-5 years to the wait as opposed to being a USC that also takes that time to getting to that state. So, if you are going to do anything with your stepson, do it NOW!

If he joins our military, say the navy or air force, will face minimum risk as opposed to joining the army or marines, and if can score high on the aptitude tests will receive a darn good education with GI benefits after completion, also will ease his process in becoming a USC.

Actually, my sister in law filed for her. From what I hear, my mother in law has her 10 year green card already. It helps when both children are US citizens. My wife's sister has already been in the US over 6 years. My mother in law has been here 15 months. Edited by Lorenzo

So MIL has a five year, multi-entry visa?
