Congrats to all that are now having their visas shipped out this morning.

It won't be long til we all are able to be with our Sweeties.

I'm flying to Tennessee on Nov 27th. Warmer weather and hardly any snow.

Well this is just GREAT.

I have a ticket I can use, I got my visa, but what do they do but skyrocket the plane ticket prices to 1300 dollars!

Now I can't leave till Tuesday unless they put the price down :(

Canadian airlines SUCK!

I'm sorry, but it's so ridiculous, isn't it? I feel for you Rhiann.

This morning I checked WestJet and Expedia's websites to see what the cost would be for a ticket to Hamilton for Christmas (in case my wife's career causes her to have to cancel her ticket up here...she'd drive to her parents' place in Buffalo and pick me up in Hamilton). Effing $1100! I'm sorry, but that's downright GOUGING. I'm very pro-capitalism, but there comes a point where supply and demand does nothing but cripple the spending ability of the middle class...

WestJet used to be such a great airline before it got all corporate. :(

Air Canada's now charging a premium if you want to sit in the exit rows or bulkhead rows. Why you might ask? Because there's extra leg room. I've NEVER had to pay extra to sit there before...

Yeah, that's actually been the norm on American airlines for a couple of years now.

On my West Jet flight from Vancouver to Hamilton next week, I discovered that NO seat is included in the listed price. Seriously. After you go through all the steps of booking the ticket, you then have to pay $15 each way to sit in a regular seat. More for the roomier ones.

I actually have no particular problem with them charging a bit extra for the nicer seats...but charging for ALL seats as a hidden fee? Grr.

Charging for baggage is also an outrage!

50 lbs is seriously not much with winter clothes and stuff.

So I just found out I'll be paying an extra $100 for suitcases.

1st suitcase = $20

2nd suitcase = $30

2nd suitcase is overweight = an extra $50. Damn Im gonna make sure the over weight suitcase is overweight to the max (70lbs). I guess its still cheaper than shipping.

O. and then I have to pay for food on the way. I flew from Cali to Mexico which was literally a 3 hrs flight fax and we had free alcohol and a meal. And I'll be flying 9 effin hours (including layover)...and not even free snacks. Sucks balls I tell ya.

Egh, the flight's still 1300 dollars.

There's still like 20+ open seats, so I'm hoping they smarten up and lower the price to sell the flight out.

Any chance you could fly out of an American airport? I'm not sure where you live so I don't know how feasible that is...

We decided that I'm going to POE on Tuesday instead.

I have a ticket I can use from March and I dont want it to go to waste.

I looked at POEing from a US airport but the price difference wasn't very good.

The best time to fly is also on actual holiday days, so if Tues prices arent going down, see if Thanksgiving is cheaper.

Flying out of Buffalo is cheaper too I believe -- one way Southwest tickets is as little as 70 bucks but it will likely be more going to the west coast :(

Goodluck!

I bet the "angry lady" reads this and is upset everyone thinks she's mean. Maybe she's nice now because of it! :P

Glad everything went well for you guys!! Nice review Peachey. I'm surprised you didn't kick Varba in the unmentionables for forgetting his passport in the room :P (I so would have) Hopefully you can talk soon!

*mental note* Wear cup around Hugglebuggles.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."
