Hi, any ideas, I'm worried, I plan to drive from Canada to the US with my Fiance and his sister and spend a month with him over Christmas. His sister and him are driving up for the weekend and we are all going back together. Then I'm flying back to Australia, then we are applying for the K1. I want to tell the truth at the boarder, "I'm spending Christmas with my Fiance " I'm worried because I will have a lot of bags (4 suitcases) because I'm moving home, but I will have my flight home and I can print an email from my old employer offering me my job in Australia back. Will this be enough? what should I do at the boarder? Any advise? S.

Well, no one can say what is enough, because there is no such thing as "this is enough" and "this is not enough" But plane tickets back to Aus. and a letter from an employer is pretty good stuff actually. Be honest. How many bags? I mean the airlines are only going to allow you two, after that they reach in through your left nostril and pull out a lung to pay for it. Maybe you should ship some stuff back if you have that much, OR ship some to your fiance for safe keeping. I was bringing back a suitcase full on every trip to Ukraine for many months before Alla arrived.

See my reply to your post in the Canada forum :)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

My fiance just came to visit for 2 months from the UK and he had NO problem getting in. He said that coming through this time was the easiest time he's ever had coming in to the U.S. There shouldn't be any reason you wouldn't be able to go visit.

You may want to be able to show why you are in Canada trying to enter the US - Ed+Cindy tried this, and I think the whole trying to sneak in the back door thing really back fired, as she was not allowed in for that visit. You have to admit - coming to the US via Canada is going quite a bit out of your way...

Thanks guys for your advise, Nik + Heather, I didn't look at like that, and I hope they don't, I've been in Canada on a working holiday visa for 5months and I'm moving home because I miss my family, I have a great job offer back home and we thought getting the paperwork together would be easier back Home. I think the best thing is to say I'm spending time with my Fiancee before I go home.

Well, bring some documentation of that working visa for Canada - just in case. Usually you'd think there wouldn't be an issue (and generally isn't with VWP), but you don't want to look out of the ordinary without a good story and evidence to back it up. Also as the visitng FAQ recommends, bring evidence of that job offer such as the offer letter or a copy of it, at least.

Not trying to scare you, but better to be prepared. :)
