Medical Exam Confusion With AOS, I-693

Hi Everyone,

I posted about this earlier tonight, but I only got one response and am still unclear, so I'm hoping I'll can get a little more feedback:

I am unsure what medical exams we still need to do for my wife and her daughter for their AOS.

My wife and her 9 year old daughter came to the US on K-1 (when my wife was my fiance) and K-2 visas. Before their interview in Brazil, they both had medical exams done by a USCIS certified civil surgeon, which was less than one year ago. My wife was pregnant at the time, thus could not do the chest x-ray and perhaps some other things. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that we handed those sealed medical exams and never got them back, nor a copy of them.

My question is, what do we have to do now for the adjustment of status package? How do we know which parts of the medical we still have to do if we don't have the results of the original medical exam? Do the doctors have access to this info? Should we go to another civil surgeon here, or just wait and see if we get an RFE?

Thanks!

I believe I already told you, go to a civil surgeon and get the I-693 transcribed. They will give her the shots that she missed and fill out the form acordingly.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Wait and see as I seriously doubt you will need a new exam ... no need to incur an expense unless you need to...

I really appreciate your reply, and especially that you took the time to answer me twice!

I'm just a bit confused by what you wrote - if I go to a civil surgeon, will they have access to the civil surgeon results of the medical exam that my wife and her daughter did in Brazil less than a year ago? What does that having a civil surgeon "transcribe" the I-693 mean? :help:

No they wont have it, you should have a document showing what vaccinations she got. If you dont have that sheet than you can call the original medical dr and see if you can get a copy of it, or have a titre test done at your DR to see what shots she has had and what ones she needs.

All they do is transcribe thos vaccinations to the I-693, and then sign it basically saying that she has all her shots up-to-date now reaferming that she had a medical already in her home country. Its not a full medical just the civil surgeon writing down the shots again and signing off on it, and giving her what shots she needs that she hasnt gotten yet.

I agree. The Civil Surgeon won't have access to their exam results, but they don't need them. All the CS has to do is fill out the vaccination section of the I-693, not the whole form. Your wife should have received a vaccination worksheet (DS-3025) from the doctor in Brazil. Bring that to the CS here to copy onto the form.

DO NOT LET THEM SCARE YOU INTO DOING A WHOLE NEW EXAM. THEY OFTEN LIE AND TELL APPLICANTS THAT THEIR AOS WILL BE DENIED IF THEY DON'T DO A FULL EXAM. THAT'S #######. YOU KNOW BETTER, SO DON'T LET THEM TRICK YOU. THEY JUST WANT TO OVERCHARGE YOU. TO TRANSCRIBE THE VACCINATIONS SHOULD COST NO MORE THAN $50 EACH, EVEN LESS.
