I'm around, though I've been packing. Music textbooks? Check. VHS tapes and classical music CDs? Check. Contents of one junk drawer? Check. Everything else? Nope!

Perhaps its time to prioritize the packing? VHS tapes . . . . . unless its porn I'd say its fit for the poubelle.

Oh, I've been prioritizing! And nope, believe it or not, I've never owned a porn video...

You'd be amazed at how many things are on VHS but not DVD yet...and also, I have a lot of VHS tapes that I want to keep, but don't want to upgrade to the DVD version.

Damn it, MrsCat. Now you're making me wonder if I should have prioritized that box a bit lower. Grr...

The junk-drawer contents are most important though. I'd pack that drawer last, since you most likely need things in there before you move. I keep pens, tools, paper, instruction manuals, chargers, batteries, sewing needles in there. . . . . . God I love a good junk drawer.

You down with lgg - ya you know meee.

Sometimes I sing that when I see you post. :P

I'm tres busy today. Who knew you'd get so many country club applicants in the fall/winter. You'd figure they'd want to join in the summer and not wait a whole season to use the course. These people don't come in slowly, one here and one there... they come in waves. So when the waves come I'm a busy little bee setting up their interviews and memberships. Bah. Oh and the restaurant manager got canned today... I used to be involved in F&B and some say I should apply for it, but alas my evenings and weekends are too precious to me.

I actually have THREE junk drawers! The one I packed up this morning was mainly my poetry acceptance / rejection letters. It's amazing how much room those took up!

I'm numbering the boxes, as well as giving them a prioritization of A, B or C. Things like books, CDs and DVDs etc. will be A priority. Things like my old music textbooks will be a B priority. I have no idea what my C priority will be. Perhaps anything in a Glad garbage bag.

I have all my packing and stuff done. :( Stupid me, having the hope that i was going to be interviews before Xmas. Oh well, it's not so bad and it's actually made me feel very organized and ready. I have eliminated all the ####### in my house and have pared down my "to bring" belongings to 27 boxes and 3 pieces of furniture, a cat and about 3 suitcases. Not so bad. The big stuff like bookshelves and couches and desks and chairs i'm going to sell and the kitchen stuff and whatever that i'm using now, I'll donate. It actually feels good to be pretty prepared and ready to go.

I only wish I could bring my cat with me over Xmas and leave her there. I'm going to HOPE that we'll interview shortly after xmas and I won't miss her that much and it woudl make like easier. But I know the rules and I only ever travel with a carry-on bag for my US visits. So what, I wear the same thing for the whole trip, what ofit? Better than being sent back cuz they dont' believe me.

Oooh... just rambled there... sorry guys....

Wyatt... you're moving in with your folks while you're waiting eh? That's pretty damn awesome if I may say... makes life a little easier for you, I'm sure.

Wyatt... you're moving in with your folks while you're waiting eh? That's pretty damn awesome if I may say... makes life a little easier for you, I'm sure.

Yeah. It's not a GREAT option, but I think it was the best option available to me given my recent financial crunch. Fortunately I have no debtload etc. beyond a car loan, so I don't have that extra stress of keeping up with creditors etc.

I'm now starting to wonder if I can pack everything that REALLY matters to me in my car when I move down, rather than having to take a trailer... I have so damn many books though...and 850 CDs, which take up more room than one might think.

But if my interview is this winter, which I have to hope it will be, then driving across the entire continent through winter conditions may be made more cumbersome with a trailer. I'm sure my car will be fine, being a 2007 front-wheel drive V6 Malibu, but I dunno about the trailer and my precious cargo. Hmm.

Um, the night job is actually my second weekend job -- i'm pulling an extra training shift to make some extra cash. The getting my blood pumping thing was a joke. Just so you all dont' think I'm a cheap two-bit floozy outside the office! ;)

You know, I am STILL in a quandary as to how to bring my ####### down. It's not a lot of stuff -- it would fit into a small trailer. Husband isn't going to come down for that as it's silly and I dont' drive. I was thinking a 'pod' thing but it's so little stuff I was hoping to not have to pay an arm and a leg to bring it.

Most of my 27 boxes are comprised of books. And I pared down my collection. Books, CDs, Record albums and my teacup and saucer collection, depression era glass and pottery.

There you all are... Nerds R US...

I am still waiting for an interview, but have slowly started packing up. There is not a lot that I can do as I am still waiting for my house to sell, and it doesn't look all that appealing with packing boxes everywhere *sigh*. My fiance has NO household goods, so I will be moving all my stuff. I only bought my house 2yrs ago and bought all new furniture to to in it, so I figure it is worth it to move it. I get laid off from my job on the 26th (only 2 weeks to go YEAH!!), so I hope to go down to the US for christmas and while I wait for my interview. I was hoping with the little blitz on K1 interviews that last little while that I would get one before Christmas, but I am not holding my breath!!!!

Yeah, I'm in the exact same boat. Most of the boxes will be books. A few boxes of CDs. A box of DVDs. And then just a few things like my Korg keyboard and amp, my elliptical trainer (it's a smallish one, but still rather awkwardly shaped), stereo, DVD player, surround sound system (all quite small), computer, printer...and that's about all the stuff that matters, really. My wife has most of the appliances / furniture that I'd need anyhow. It's all a case of prioritization.

If it was a LOT of stuff, then a POD would be justifiable. If it was very little, then I could easily just pack it into my car. But it's right smack dab in the middle...more than I can fit in my car, but not enough to justify a POD. At least I can store any of my stuff at my parents' place. They have a "junk room" already...so I don't feel nearly so bad adding to it!

I figure i'll probably figure it out once we ever get an interview. Then? I'll be more willing to fly by the seat of my pants? Now, it's too troublesome to over thing something that's still in hypotheticals...

I think I may have found a job. A woman from a local law firm emailed me this morning from my Craigslist post for a receptionist position. It's a 5 minute drive from home. I emailed the HR person my resume, so here's to it!

Well I'm still around, still fighting the unending battle with the colds :(

Also packing -- I am flying and getting my stuff after AOS, so I can only bring 2 big boxes worth 50 pounds each and as much as I can fill in the carry on. This means that I have to sacrifice some shoes because I need to bring our dinnerware... as the hunny has been surviving with 2 plates and a handful of silverware since... oh I dont know... last year October???

At this point Im just exhausted to feel excited or stressed for tomorrow's big 7 hour bus trip. It seemed like a good idea to take the bus 3 weeks ago :P Of course, I did not foresee the colds though.

Finally married... and still married... ;)
