CR-1 interview for spouse in Mumbai, India

Hi all,

My wife sent the DS-230 documents last week. NVC has recieved the paperwork and now we are waiting for them to review the package and send us further instructions. I live in Chicago and I'm planning to go pick her up.

Question:

If I'm present at the ambassy during her interview, does that affact her getting a visa? I mean, is it better if I am there during the interview or it doesn't make a differnce if I'm here or there?

November 16, 2009: Sign-in Failed!!
November 16, 2009: December interviews already scheduled. Operator told me to wait for a possible January interview date. Call back in the 2nd week of December
November 30, 2009: Been trying to call NVC but line busy since late after noon. Finally, got email appointment letter from NVC with the Interview date of January 19, 2010. Yeppe Alhamdulillah>
December 24, 2009: Medical Done and report recieved the same day.
January 11, 2010: Medical submitted at VFS. They asked for: Copy of Packet 3, Appointment letter, and Passport. They told her to take a copy of I-864 and the documents submitted with it, at the time of interview with other proof of relationship documents.
January 19, 2010: VISA APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 21, 2010: Visa recieved in mail (Package included passport with visa stamped, sealed big brown envelop to be submitted at POE immigration at the airport, and instructions to apply for SS Card)

USA
February 07, 2010: POE Chicago --> Very easy, within 45 minutes
March 02, 2010: SS Card recieved in mail. Welcome letter recieved in mail as well
March 13, 2010: GC Recieved in mail

January 29, 2015: N-400 Application submitted

You might want to check whether Mumbai allows the USC petitioner in for the interview. However, you can always go there for moral support and give her your passport so that she can show it to the CO as proof that you're outside waiting for her.

Is your case a CR1?

It will not cause the CO to refuse your wife a visa if you aren't there, but your presence can definately help support your case, as well as support your wife. :)

My advice is if you can afford the time off from work and expenses for the trip, then go.

July 10, 2009- NVC sent Reaffirmed petition back to U.S.Embassy, New Delhi.

August 10, 2009- Embassy notified via email that they've received the Re-affirmed petition assigned with a 'new' case number as well as mailed Packet 3.

August 20, 2009- Embassy sent as an email attachment, the DS-230, Applicants Statement and Cover letter to Packet 3.

August 20, 2009- Mailed and Emailed request letter to Embassy to extend validity date of petition.

August 25, 2009 - Embassy received request to extend validity letter.

Sept 2, 2009- Embassy confirmed their receipt of the completed DS-230 and Applicants Statement.

October 29, 2009- 2nd Interview date- Visa Approved!

November 4th, 2009- Received Passport with Visa intact!

December 4th, 2009- Fiance arrived in U.S. - MARRIED Dec. 7th!

February 23rd-Mailed AOS Packet

March 3rd, 2010-Check Cashed

March 6th, 2010-Received AOS Receipt Notice

March 29th, 2010-Biometrics

Sept. 14, 2010-GC Interview -Approved!

Yes my case is CR1.

I'm trying to get time off from work. I'm praying that I can at least get a week off. Expenses are not a problem. I can manage that.

So They recieved our DS-230 on Nov. 4th. When do u think they will assign the interview date? My case is in Mubai ambassy.

You do not need permission to attend your wife to the Embassy, you will be allowed in as you are a USC, but standing beside her when she's being interviewed is another question. Depends entirely on the CO.

I am not sure about Mumbai, but Delhi's average is about two weeks. You can contact the DOS to inquire on the Status of your case and they can tell you if your wife has been assigned her interview date.

Here's the number: 1-202-663-1225 - Someone here at VJ has said that if you press 1 as soon as you hear the recording, then wait for 3 seconds and press 0, you'll be placed on hold until someones available to answer.

Or you can try it another VJ'er's way that says you can bypass the long recording by pressing 1 then 0 consecutively as soon as you hear the recording.

Hey,

My wife just got her passport made in October.

Does she need district PCC as well? Because Surat police don't give distrcit PCC any more.

She already has Passport PCC.

I read that if your passport is less than 6 months old, you don't need District PCC. is that correct?

Just paranoid because she already send DS-230 package. :wacko:
