After having read all 19 pages of this (the new 3 or 4 pages every 12 hours), I have 2.5 questions:

1. Can't we all just get along?

2. If not, WHY not, and what is the EXACT REMEDY?

Well if I had to sum up the 19 pages I would say its about communication.

Party A. doesn't like the way Party B. communicates.

Party B. says they are too stretched to always communicate effectively and want more people in their party to do a better job.

Then second to that Party A. wants communication in specific ways that Party B. disagrees with.

The solution? We all break our keyboards! (EDIT. and I phones/Blackberries)

I am posting this as a favor but I don't plan to provide a lot along these lines on a normal basis. My take away is that the closure rate (percent of threads per month closed relative to new threads) is about the same if not falling.

Not very linear at all. I would think a polynomial would give a better fit. Perhaps there are some seasonal influences in the amount of closed threads, or perhaps it relates to the phase of the moon, or more to the election cycle.

More graphs, please!

No more graphs!!!!!!!!!! I've seen climate change debates in OT with charts and its not pretty! (Though I agree with you that I clearly see three cycles on that graph)

That graph shows a variation of less then a fraction of a percent, which is why I consider (even though it does appear to be a trend) the variation to be noise basically. I hate line fitting to small natural variations. My main point is that there is not major trend to be seen other that the fact that within the last year and a half the thread closure rate has been the same withing 0.5 percent (which is incredibly consistent).

A less than one-percent closure rate is probably really not that significant, but like airplane crashes, they tend to be spectacular.

This just in.. since Ewok I see you are reading. Just about 3 minutes ago, a post of mine which included the following:

"You just broke the TOS, reported"

was deleted. My post did not break TOS, and yet it was removed, no warning, no nada. I have received -previously- the discourse "oh well,, it was quoting another post that broke TOS" as the excuse to remove my post. That, IMO, is the wrong way to go about things.

Why? Because the flow of information gets cut; and censorship of such matters as "you broke TOS and I reported you" is pretty damn irritating. What is the deal with this and what -if anything- could be done to improve it. Please respond.

I just checked all the way back to 9am. I do not see any posts that were removed that you made. The mods can only hide a post and not permanently delete it. I did not find any hidden posts. I hate to infer the issue was on the technology side but there are no hidden posts of yours in the last 3 hours that I checked.

I might not be privy to the way it works for you guys now but - Ewok, if I may be so bold - this thread is crucial for you to check in on. In past history it has always outlined the days goings on and other assorted things. Pretty much any action that was taken was in there. If you are still not checking this thread with regularity - well, you know what I am going to say.
