I salute you

To all of our men and women who have served/or serving in the armed forces, THANK YOU!

To all of our family members of veterans, THANK YOU!

For without you and the grace of God, we would not be able to enjoy the freedoms we have today.

People often complain about our country, but if it weren't for those who sacrificed for us, the wouldn't even have the freedom to complain.

Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU! You are loved, and you are appreciated. And today, as with all other days, we appreciate YOU!!

It's also Remembrance Day today in Canada.

It's to remember everyone that served in the war.

We wear poppies to commemorate them.

My great grandfather served in WWII, I hope he continues resting in peace.

Thank you to all Vets and thank you to all Vets who are our neighbours to the North!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

When I lived in Georgia, I would take an uncle who is a Vet out to lunch on me. My moms husband is a 25yr retired Naval Officer and now Police Officer. Im going to be taking his picture, plaquing it and putting it at our customer service desk at Walmart with all the other Veterans up there.

Thank you to all the Veterans! (L)

Three major casual-dining chains —Applebee's, McCormick & Schmick's and Golden Corral— are offering free food to veterans and, in most cases, active-duty military personnel in observance of Veterans Day. (The official holiday is Wednesday.)

Others are in the mix with promotions. Outback Steakhouse offers a free Bloomin' Onion appetizer and beverage to past and present military members on Wednesday, and Krispy Kreme has free doughnuts. Home Depot and Lowe's are offering 10% discounts to military and vets.

These free meals are the hottest tickets:

•Applebee's. Applebee's is offering a free entree on Wednesday to veterans and all active-duty military from 11 a.m. to midnight at all 1,900 locations. Although Applebee's requests some kind of military ID, "We're not going to argue with folks who might forget to bring it," says Sam Rothschild, senior vice president of operations.

•McCormick & Schmick's. For the 11th year in a row, the 87 locations in 25 states are offering free entrees to veterans on Sunday. The chain also requests military ID and highly recommends reservations. The promotion is on Sunday instead of Veterans Day, "because it allows vets to bring their families who might not be available during the week," CEO Bill Freeman says.

•Golden Corral. The 485-unit chain is offering free buffet meals — including beverage and dessert — to current military and vets on Monday, Nov. 16, from 5 to 9 p.m. No military ID is required for its ninth annual Military Appreciation Monday, says Dolly Mercer, national events manager. The event is held on this date, she says, "so we don't interfere with Veterans Day activities."

I got screwed out of college benefits, something about a phony fire in St. Louis, a$$holes wouldn't even consider all of the original records and orders I kept a file on, really pissed me off. Veteran home loans were a crock as well, got much better rates dealing with a private savings and loan association, plus the amount of a VA assisted loan would only buy me a shack.

Did get a shingles shot at my VA for only a 15 buck co-payment my health care provided would not cover, wanted 275 bucks, least I hope it was a shingles shot. Do get a break on two minor prescription drugs I use once in awhile, but no brand or generic name on either of them, wonder if they come from China. But so far, they haven't killed me. I only have to drive 120 miles to my nearest VA health facility.

See a couple of veterans got invited for breakfast with Obama, no mail today, postal carriers get that off, have yet to get a veterans days off. Parachute training helped me last Saturday when my old wooden ladder collapsed under me, stupid for not realizing that ladder was getting as old as me. Ended up with a dislocated knee and big toe, but no broken bones and protected my head, so that was good. Also got a new ladder. Was also trained how to kill with my bare hands, but have yet to exercise that skill, but been tempted many times especially when dealing with government agencies. I proudly show my VA photo ID card when required, especially at airports coming back.
