Wow...I've spent the better part of the morning reading through this whole thread...and part of the older one. I appreciate everything written here...everything. It's given me food for thought. I know my Joel will have an adjustment time too. We've talked about it. I asked him what could I do to help him with that, even though he's not here yet. He said "Just believe in me". One thing I do know - this man LOVES me. I realise what he's giving up to be here with me. He knows that I wouldnt have a problem moving to Canada either, it's just with the joint custody issue I'm having to live with right now, he knows that isn't a possibility for me. And to up and leave the only home he's ever known, to come here to be with ME...now that's love, in my humble opinion. And believe me...I CHERISH Joel, I absolutely adore him. :luv:

Having the experiences of another person helps me get a perspective of what MIGHT be, not necessarily what WILL be. It is helping me prepare, as best I can, for the next year or so. Knowing what Joel might possibly feel once he is here and we get married is invaluable to me, well, to both of us. I appreciate the frankness of Michelle and Craig in sharing their feelings here. I never once let myself think that Joel will not have problems adjusting here...he loves it here, but visiting is one thing...actually living here will be a totally different scenario. I never realized how difficult it could be for some though, so thank you both for opening your life up to those of us who haven't walked that path as yet. I sincerely hope common ground can be found between you both and that the love that started this whole thing isn't forgotten.

Sorry for being so wordy...hope my post makes some sense. :)

awwww thanks Karen, that was really nice. Things ARE getting better(so much so!)between us, and it will be hard to be apart for a month again now that we're used to being together, but as I said..we BOTH know he needs this right now. What I'm primarily concerned about right now, is how he will feel when he gets BACK. That's the big question...without even having to be dramatic..the one that could affect our future, wherever that is. I love Craig so much, and I know he loves me too,and we'll work things out. Its just not been nice for either of us this year feeling insecure in the relationship(me) feeling out of place(craig) and other things, but we'll make it. I'm glad it's helped some people, because the amount of support received on this thread has been invaluable to me/us as well. Take care everyone! Michelle

Well, just to keep this thread up to date and not for more attention(I do mean that!!) most of you know that Craig left this morning for England. I miss him already!!! He'll be home April 26th, and I already can't wait for him to get back. I'm sure I'll be worried until he gets there safely, even tho I know he'll be fine, so It'll probably be about a 6am bedtime for me tonight! :) He got on the road about 7am..should be in Beloit by noon or so..then off to the bus and his flight goes at 9pm or so on United. Poor guy's gonna be exhausted by the time he gets there! Going to try to keep busy while he's gone, and hopefully the time will go quick!

I had a full day of school today, and in a nice turn of events(things have a way of working out don't they?)and for the first time ever snce I've been going to college, a woman from the office called and said I didn't need to come in today because my teacher wasn't going to be there! (same teacher for classes today..she teaches Accounting and Excel) That's unusual because she had breast cancer and didn't even miss any days, so I hope everything is alright with her! As long as she's ok, I'm glad not to have to go to class today, as I only got a couple hours sleep last night and will be a long day waiting to hear from Craig.

Hope you're all doing ok out there in adjustment land!!! :) Michelle (and Craig of course!) (F)
