Necessity of Police Certificate From Every City She Lived

Hi All,

My case was just sent to Moscow from NVC, and I was reading the Russian consulate website. It says my fiance must have a police certificate from every city where she lived for more than 6 months. Is that really necessary and must she travel to such places as Vladivostok and her college city, Dnepropetrovsk, as well as her home city Kherson in Ukraine to receive these certificates? Can they be gotten by mail? Does a police certificate from a particular country cover all the cities? Sorry for my ignorance and thanks to all who reply.

Basically she will have to get the police certs. from what is the equivalent of the state police, so what ever the main police dept for the Oblasts or Republic or Countries she has lived. As far as the Ukraine I'm not sure. I'm sure someone will come along to help you with this portion.

Zhanna (My fiancee) was able to get the police dept. in Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovskaya Oblast and in Ufa, Bashkortostan Republic relatively easy. The certs were ready in about 2-3 weeks. She went to both police depts. to get them.

Again, I am not sure about what to do about the Ukraine.

When I talk to her tonight I will ask her again what exactly she did.

Alla translates lots of these. usually on Russian police certificates it lists all the Oblasts a person has lived. when she goes to the main police station for this she should tell them which Oblasts she has lived in. They will check with each of those and the name of the Oblast will be listed on ONE police certificate. If you want an example, email me and I can send one with the personal information, name, etc. deleted.

For Ukraine she can go to the Oblast where she lived and get one...it is for the whole country. I would suggest she get the Ukraine police certificate first and take a copy of it to the Russian agency. We did that for our son and it cut the time to process the Russian certificate. It can be expedited further...she knows how.

It says on the Moscow website that any document that is not in Russian or English (such as Ukrainian) must be translated and notarized. Does Alla get her translations notarized, since most of my fiance's documents are in Ukrainian?

She has not notarized documents for Russia and Ukraine and never had a problem, certified only. She could, of course, have them notarized. I do not believe she has ever translated a Ukraine language document for a Russian interview. I would have to ask her that one. Kiev does not require notarization. There has been a couple of people she translated for just recently approved in Moscow. She can notarize documents also, not a problem.
