Does anyone know if my fiancee could request the police certificate before he receives the packet from the consulate?

He wants to start getting everything ready ahead of time. I am not sure if the consulate would care if the certificate is couple months old.

Yes, usually good for 1 year.

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Better request ahead of time because requesting for police clearance can take up to 1-2 months.

I thought I read you needed your NOA2 to request your police certificate... Is it true?

Although Im still waiting on my NOA2, Ive been looking into requesting mine from Australia, since Im sure that would have to take at least 3 weeks with the post and all.

In the Philippines yes, not only NOA2 but we have to wait until our case is in the embassy already and we are scheduled for interview. We need the confirmation letter to get a request letter from US embassy. This request letter is a requirement to get that police clearance. I am not sure if it is the same in Canada. You need to call Austrilia embassy there.
