hi, im yumishi's husband ;D

we're both really um,. newbies with all of this, and all the legal mumbo-jumbo escapes us, so sorry for that ahead of time.

can anyone tell me what exactly is the difference between the K3 and CR-1 visas?

something else i am wondering, what is the fastest method of having her being allowed to work in the united states? we met in a place where you must have a work contract in order to live there, and we wish to live there still [we actually met while she was visiting/working with a J1 visa where i live/work.]

is anyone familiar with the processing differences between the visas and the EAD? [at least time wise, and/or otherwise]

thank you all very much for any help .

Short version:

K3 - more expensive, more steps, not appreciably faster to obtain the visa. Must go through Adjustment of Status after entering the US to be able to work.

CR1 - Immigrant has green card upon entering, thus can begin working immediately.

The VJ consensus is that the CR1 is the better visa. Do some reading in the forums to get a sense of what is involved. The Latin America forum can get you info the is specific to the embassy in Lima.

Welcome to VJ.

Best of luck to the both of you.
