yeah but I don't want to see what you look like after sex no matter how attractive you are or aren't. Unless you're Mario Lopez

That's a different kettle of fish.

I am sure Len is just messing about, really, but it is a bit tactless. What I find odd, is why someone who is good looking feels the need to berate those who are not? Surely, the benefits that come with beauty do not need to be defined further by grinding the noses of the have nots into the dirt?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I guess I am coming from the position of having never been one of the 'beautiful' people and as age takes its toll, rapidly losing any benefits from appearance for its own sake and I just don't get why someone who is beautiful would judge someone based simply on looks.

what??? I just do not particularly enjoy looking at ugly people. Sue me, I am that vain. :jest:

I kid. I know all too well that physical beauty does not equate inner beauty, or worthiness - neither does beauty bring happiness. If I wanted to grind their noses in the dirt, I would leave OMFG U IZ UGLY comments in their pix.

I judge by opinions and taste. And everyone knows that ugly is proportional to lack of money. Anyone with money can be prettied up. :P

I get that, but people who aren't beautiful do read this thread, occasionally ;)

Sister Cleo, I have been on the pretty side of things, and while I make no apology for it; the attention was not always welcome, or nice. Many an idiot suggested that I became the youngest university Chief of Staff in Latin America because I slept with someone  Or that my research won awards because I was, and I quote "not hard to look at". Or that my classes were standing room only because I had nice b00bs.

Has being relatively attractive made my life easier? absolutely. But in life you do not get ahead by looks - hell, not even in show biz.

Of course, but in the end, being attractive is definitely the easier 'problem' to deal with.

I don't doubt it. But if they give one ounce of importance to what others think of them, it is their problem. Self-esteem is something no one can take away from you. I learned that after 2 years of severe abuse - and I mean skull fracture severe.

Well, that is my opinion of course, I haven't experienced both sides of the coin though.

So, it's ok to call people ugly because they shouldn't take it personally?

I've never been a looker but, before I got fat, in my teen years I had a rocking body and I actually didn't like the accusations that this or that boy only dated me for boobs or my #######. I liked the compliment but not the shallowness of being thought of as just a body.

I beg to differ. Not when you are in an area when your good looks hamper you instead of helping you. An ugly academic's intelligence is rarely brought into question.

In any case, people are worthy because they are alive and have something to give to the world. That's how I see it. And that does not make them any more or less beautiful, just good people.

Men are like that though ;)

Sorry, I am not trying to be snarky and I think it's coming across that way.

You bet I did. And I was not being snarky. Been at it for 17 years. It sux, it's unfair, and still, it happens.

I get that you would be given some ###### by presumably men for being good looking and smart but to suggest that ugly women are given a free pass on intelligence, no, I don't get that for one minute.
