Hey!!!

I'm back!!! I still have 3 more days of work between now and my official holidays (NO WORK UNTIL FEBRUARY!) but the next three days are so slow and I only have to go in a fraction of my normal work week...so I'm back!!

What's new?

Hi Marina... or should I say Sra. Del??? It's nice to see you!

You look so pretty in your wedding pictures, I love the hairdo. Since you have been gone I have been busy getting myself knocked up.

Yay Susy!!! I'm so happy your having a girl this time around! :)

Thanks everyone. I missed you! But I only had about an hour everyday at home to do all the things that I needed to do so I refused to let myself get on VJ. I knew if I did I'd spend the whole hour doing this instead of what I had to do! Like today, I actually have to leave in an hour and I've been on here since 12 or something! But who cares...hehe

@Amby: No, nothing special. I'm actually really sad. Del's family doesn't do anything for Christmas really and Christmas is something really big at my house. My original flight home is for tomorrow (when I came i booked round trip). I can't change the flight to a later date because you must fly within one year of the original purchasing date (tomorrow). So theoretically I could get on the plane tomorrow and be home without having to pay a penny. BUT, I'd have to buy a flight back, and I really don't want to spend the time away from Del. It's just depressing that I'm here. I'm really ready to go home. We are going to start DCF in January (eek!) and we plan on moving back to the states at the beginning of July....but I am SO ready! Don't get me wrong, I really like Brazil, but the US is my home.

PS. I'm so pissed I have to go into work this afternoon. All my students (6 of them) already told me they aren't coming. You see, school ended for them all last week, but we still have school this week because of the delays at the beginning of the semester because of swine flu. So I know they won't show up, but I have to go just in case...and then drive right back home. But whatever, I'll get paid at least!

I totally would go out and buy a bunch of decorations if we were going to stay here...but we're leaving in July. I am however going to buy a couple decorations at least for us to take back with us to the states that say things like Feliz Natal so we can have some Brasil in our house in the US. But I just can't bring myself to go out and buy a bunch of decorations when we'd only use them this year and never again. His family wouldn't want them and I'd feel like I was just wasting my money. Everyone uses plastic fake trees here but even one of those is REALLY expensive, so to just go out and buy one for us here and not to be able to use it again next year would also be a lot of money for nothing since no one would even enjoy it but me. Del doesn't like Christmas either. :(

Next Christmas we plan on staying in the states and being with my family so I really can't bring myself to spend a ton of money on decorations here for no to enjoy but me, although they might make me more depressed because then I'd remember it's Christmas time more.

The Christmas Caroling I can do though! I sang Del all the Christmas Carols I know while we were laying in bed the other night. My friend suggested that we make our own Christmas traditions, like making Christmas cookies together or something, but I just don't think he'd be into it. I don't know, I'm depressed over it.

Any idea of things other than making cookies that Del and I can do just the two of us that is Christmas-y. PG-13 rated please Charles! ;)

Is even a small tree expensive? When I was in England I bought a bunch of small stuff since I wasn't even sure if Neil's mom would use it after we left.

I always go around and watch all my little cousins open their presents or show me all the stuff they got. Then I make a big brunch for everyone to come over and eat. Maybe you could invite his family over for breakfast or something? Or get a certain Christmas movie that you two watch together every year. Each of you pick out one ornament each year to put on your tree until you have a tree full of ornaments.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I planned on doing the ornament thing next year when we'll actually have a tree. My mom always did that with us when we were kids, which I always really loved. And his family DOES NOT do presents. They don't do Christmas. My SIL (married to Del's brother) told me she's always hated that his family doesn't do anything for Christmas but that it's been like that for 6 years at least and she's tried doing little things with no success and that most years they don't even do a lunch or anything. This year one of his cousins is having a dinner at her house and we're doing a Secret Santa thing. So thank goodness that is at least SOMETHING, even though it'll only be for like 2 hours on Christmas night.

And yeah, even the little ones are pretty expensive. Maybe I'll look again this weekend, but that type of thing here (unless perhaps if you go into the center of the city where everything is super cheap/and super #######) is really expensive.

Movies are perhaps an idea. Like "The Christmas Story" which I always watched as a kid....I don't know...

Ooooo...I like this idea!!! We might go to the beach. (PS. having a hot Christmas is SO WEIRD).

Actually, we're really lucky. Del's garage is going to close from Dec 19-Jan 19th. So we'll both be off work TOGETHER for a month!!! We'll definitely go to the beach for at least a week of that, but I don't know when it will be! But yes, Christmas vacation is a good idea! Now I gotta figure out something to get him for Christmas...
