For those who didn't actually tell their parent's they hated them as teens when they were frustrated over some ruined scheme or another, did you think it? If you didn't, I don't think you can actually be human ;)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Not really. The way I was brought up, there was no room for such shenanigans. And believe me, I am waaaaaaaaay human.

Oh, I got my ####### spanked with sandals all the time. And ears pulled. If I left something lying in the wrong place mom would ask me to pick it up once, twice third time she had to ask if I hadn't she'd silently come to where I was, grab my ear and then sorta pull (you'd go along immediately of course) me to the shoe/toy whatever was it and make me pick it up, then she'd release me while I left to go put the whatever object was away, and all that without saying a single word.

i was an only child growing up, i had siblings when i was almost a teenager, so when little i was spoiled and i got away with most things. my dad would never ground me cuz he hates rejection, and he would buy me everything to make up for leaving me with the maid while him and my stepmother were at work. i don't agree with the way i was raised, Ben will not be raised the same way, actually i'll do exactly the opposite.

I didn't really think of "I HATE MY DAD" but yes it might have been upsetting and I hated the situation, but you wouldn't dare to throw tantrums over it. If you slam the door, you slam the door, no one is going to ask you to come to dinner, see how long you can go without food. Your dad will not give you any pocket money, and remember it is NOT common in other countries for kids (from middle class at least) to work while they are schooling; so you are out of any money at all.

I'd go to my room and talk by myself how unfair they were being, or how I hated living under their regimen, but never said it to their faces. Oh, and I remember once mom asked me to clean my room when I had plans to go swim with friends. I got so pissed off I went into my room and basically threw everything I owned on the floor, scattered books, clothes, everything. Took me 3 times longer to clean my room and I sort of learned my lesson. I kept my room clean after that.

Nah, I'm sure I still must of gone, that was during summer, and we'd stay in the club (a block away from my house was this club we were members of, had courts, pools, saunas, and a playground) from 9 am to 10 pm. :P

dudes I told my mom I hated her all the time. last week I flipped out because she wouldn't leave me alone. she kept asking me why I told my sister something she didn't want me to tell her. the weird thing was my mom never told me not to tell my sister the thing. I kept telling her over and over and over and over that she didn't tell me. finally after 45 minutes I flipped the #### out because she wouldn't leave me alone. I am 25 and had a tantrum

ps. I am sure it had a lot to do with being in a lot of pain and so itchy I was in tears

Not really. The way I was brought up, there was no room for such shenanigans. And believe me, I am waaaaaaaaay human.

Well, my brother was like that, he never ever yelled or threw tantrums so we are all different. My point is though, that these feelings are not a sign that the child who is doing it is some kind of monster. These thoughts are fleeting and not real - I didn't hate my mum, I didn't even dislike her, I said it because I was frustrated, I thought it because that's what you can think when you are a teen and frustrated and the hormones are raging. I have talked about it with her since then, and while it is true she did feel hurt at the time, she now says that that was because she didn't understand what was going on, but she can completely understand now and probably would have reacted differently to me had she known what it was.

I wasn't spoiled as a kid, I was grounded, spanked (on occaision) and disciplined for doing things that were wrong, but that didn't stop me from doing them straight away. What stopped me was learning why certain actions were wrong and the real consequences of doing them not the immediate consequences. If you can be honest with yourself about how you were as a child, it really helps when teaching your own children.

 Mom and I are very close now, and talk like friends, so I'm not as respectful in my talking manners as I used to be. But we don't ever argue now or I get mad at her and she at me, not since I turned about 17, since then we've been best of friends.

I am sure all the parents know their kids don't actually hate them when they said it, unless they actually do but if the relationship is like that the parent will know for sure that their kid's feeling is real, but that relationship is doomed anyway.

Exactly right -- wise words

I hear a lot of people saying they would "do it differently" than their folks. I would not. They put emphasis on -I think- the right things. They were able to know our strengths and weaknesses and push us to succeed in the areas they knew we would be good at. We did not inherit their frustrations (don't you hate a frustrated pageant mom? a psycho hockey dad? I do) and became individuals; not their clones.

GREAT cLeo, now you made me miss them. I shall call them :)
