Hi,

I'm pretty new to this and I need your advice.

I'm getting married to A US citizen and i'll be moving over there. For the moment, I live in a border town and my fiance lives right across the border. I'll be keeping my job in Canada and travel back and forth everyday to work.

What is our best visa option if I don't want to have to take a long brake from work waiting for adjustment of status and not being able to come back to Canada to work?

Thansk for your help

Carry

Neiks did/does this and she came in on a CR-1 visa. Have a look at The Guides and it will give you an idea of the different types. K-3 is generally considered to be obsolete, since it doesn't give you the best bang for your buck and takes just about as long as the CR-1.

You will also find a lot of good info in the Canada Forum.

Moving from Working & Travelling forum to General Immigration Discussion. Welcome to VJ. :)

CR-1 visa - don't do a K1, you can't leave for a couple months while you wait for advance parole. with CR-1, you have a green card right away and can travel. Special bonus: It's cheaper too.

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

AOS:

December 23, 2009: NOA1!

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

March 7, 2012: Tracking says "notice left"...after a phone call to post office.

More detailed time line in profile.
