Guys I need help with all these notices i'm receiving. Mohammed recieved notices that he had an Intervire today in New Orleans. I called yesterday and had it cancelled because of Ida. I live near Pensacola, Fl and couldn't leave out with it coming a shore. When I called USCIS the guy said why are you going to New Orleans.. our data shows it was transferred to California? I tell him all I know is I have the notice telling him to go today.

Today Moahmmed recieves another notice letting him know his case has been transferred to California and they will notify him when it's complete. What am I to do here? Who has the case and which notice do I believe? When he receives his next notice for New Orleans Appt. will they even have his case or will it be in California? That is too far to drive and money to waste if New Orleans doesn't even have his case.

I don't know who to believe or what to do here as I have thought I read on VJ if it was transfeered to California to speed up processing the person didn't even have an interview.. they just waited for the GC to come through the mail. Anyone have advice or can tell me what to do?

A case transferred to CSC means you will have no interview. Consider yourself blessed!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Well, that is what I thought as well, but he hasn't went anywhere to have his Biometrics taken.. I guess that's what New Orleans was for, but the guy yesterday told me we both had to be at that Interview. How confusing if we get another letter with another appt. for New Orleans and they don't even have anything on his case.

Yes, I would think he needs the Biometrics taken first. Maybe someone else knows the answer to this??? Both need to attend the interview, however if it is indeed transferred to CSC, it will be adjucated without an actual interview.

What does the interview letter he has say about the interview? It should say if it is for biometrics somewhere on it. It is strange to have an interview without having biometrics, and it is also strange to send you all the way to New Orleans when there are Application Support Centers much closer ( https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...or.statecode=FL ). Actually, there are also local offices much closer than New Orleans as well where they conduct interviews: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...or.statecode=FL even though New Orleans may be the Regional Office.

If someone on the 1-800 line gave you the information it could be that they had the information wrong - it is not so affectionately known as the 'misinformation line' for nothing. It wouldn't be the first time - nor unfortunately the last time - that they have given out distressingly inaccurate information. You might want to try and make an infopass appointment at the office from the list above that is closest to you. Surely there are some closer than a 4 1/2 hour drive! That way you can actually speak to a real immigration officer and he/she has access to much more information on your file than someone in a call center with a computer.

If you put your zip code into the box on this page it will bring up the address of your local office. That is the one you will want to check with about the infopass and the biometrics: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of....office_type=LO

Getting transferred to California is a good thing - it means the application will almost definitely be approved without an interview. He will need to have biometrics done first, though, and I am virtually positive he shouldn't have to drive all the way to New Orleans to do that!

The NOA is for his Biometrics to be done at New Orleans.. which I rescheduled due to Ida. He did receive a NOA today letting him know his case was transferred to California and they would notify him of a decision. I did check my zipcode and it shows Jacksonville, Fl as the one for my zipcode, but it's 5.5 hours and New Orleans is closer.

I will wait to see if he gets a new appt. letter by Dec 15th as the guy told me yesterday for his Biometrics. If he has to have the Bio done then we have to go to New Orleans after all. I just hope the guy didn't mess up and they have no showing I called and resheduled. I did write down all the referrence numbers and his ID number so maybe we'll be o.k.

Thanks,

Jolie

Ok - it sounds like you were given misinformation from the Misinformation line then about both of you having to attend the 'interview' because there isn't an interview with the biometrics. Does your letter give you the option of rescheduling an appointment by sending the letter back in with the reason why you couldn't make the original date? I had to reschedule one of my biometrics for my AOS and returned the letter with the proof of travel and requested a date for after our return. I got the notice of reschedule about 4 weeks later for a date two weeks in advance. If you do that, keep a copy of the biometrics letter before you return it, and include information about Hurricane/TS Ida - you shouldn't have a problem getting a new date.
