Ant - I remember in my mommy group, several mothers had wells and were concerned about drinking the water. The child educator recommended just boiling the water and then drinking the cooled water instead of buying bottled water. Just a thought.

BTW ... where is a pic of BabyA???

Autumnchik-Thanks for the idea about boiling the water...:)

I admit, I have thought about that before.....But because of the high costs of heating with propane, I've had to 'cut back' on hot water and heating.

So 'hot water and heating' is seen as something that should be conserved around here....

For example, 5 mins tops for hot showers, no more than 60 degrees F for the heating, and using cold water to wash the clothes.....

Until the HEAP (heat energy assistance program) funds kick in and/or until the weather gets warmer is when I can boil water regularly again...

And as funny as this may be, in the meantime, it is cheaper for us to buy bottled water than to turn up the heater and/or stove...

It doesn't help that I'm an extra $675 in debt because of immigration...lol...That money could have went to heating our house for the winter!....

Oh well..At least I have hot water and heating..Can't complain too much there...:)

But yeah, I'll definitely consider boiling the water instead..It sure is better than drinking bottled water!

Nevertheless, I'll try and talk my husband into boiling the water...(or I'll just do it behind his back..lol..) instead of buying bottled water...

Ant

P.S. As for the pics of Baby A....They are on my computer...But I can't get them online on vj! I have tried many tines and have had no luck with using photobucket (which someone else suggested), as my computer was having problems with such. Any other ideas as to how I can get my pics on the vj boards by using another way? And yes, if ever I do get the photos on vj, I'll definitely post those here for you (and for everyone else wants to see them too)...

By the way, that's a cute pic of your baby that you have on your signature! Declan, was it? How is he, by the way? Cute "tattoo" that he has on his arm too...Very Canadian, indeed!

Ant, you may want to have the quality of your well water tested. It could very well be quite good and even if there are extra minerals that affect the taste, beneficial for your health. There have been studies that many supposedly filtered, bottled waters are little more than tap water themselves and some of them are actually not very pure. If a test of your well water shows that there are issues of concern for you and the baby, then you can continue the bottled water, but if the water is fine then you can drink it and save the expense of the bottled water.

Here our water is usually pretty good but there are certain times of the year when the chlorine smell is very strong and the taste is enough to affect coffee and tea. So, we have the Pur stage 2 tap filter on our kitchen tap. We don't use it all the time - just when the water starts to smell of chlorine - and it really works great. It is definitely cheaper than buying bottled water which is what we used to do at those times.

Ant - I use photobucket for my pics ... sorry, I have no idea how else to get pics on here. Hopefully someone with more tech know how will answer.

Declan is great :) He, my hubby and my mom are leaving to drive to Florida this weekend. I have to work and will fly down a week later. I must admit, I am SOOO looking forward to the alone time (at least for the first day or two). Such a change, because a year ago, I posted here on the vent page that I was so anxious and sad that my hubby and Declan were going to BC and I would be without my baby for the first time. Funny how things change!!! I love Declan immensely, but I cannot wait to sleep in and not have to rush to get him to daycare!!!!

Phew. That took forever for me to catch up on the vents. lol. Congratulations to all the pregnant people!

*checks to make sure she's in the vent thread*

Okay so don't cyber-kick me, since I know many of you are stuck shoveling copious amounts of snow at this very moment, but this rain sucks.

Yay. This seems like a good time to resurrect Triumph the Insult Dog.

People who put pictures of their positive pregnancy tests in their profile pictures or signatures really weird me out. Like, you peed on that thing a couple minutes earlier... gross.

I find it interesting that people feel the need to decorate their territory. (No need to point out that I decorate my own territory. :hehe: )

Good point, Kathryn. I know in Canada you can get the test kit from the municipality and they will test it for free. :)

Thanks for resurrecting the dog krikit

Well, I am looking for an apartment - kind of - our 6 month lease is up here at the end of January (yes, it's been 5 months since we left the sun drenched land of Florida!) Looking for an apartment in this city is totally annoying - not due to a lack of rentals but a HUGE over abundance of rentals - there is tooo much to choose from. I have a set of criteria and one will have one thing but not the other etc etc - or the price is something ridiculous (these people renting out their places in Calgary need to get real - the boom is over for the moment people)

Actually, people have started to leave Alberta YAY! 2400 left like last month...bye.

Good luck with the search!

When John and I moved into this rental house last year, we were saving $50/month from our previous rental, gaining independence from living in an 'apartment' (ie: privacy), more bedrooms, 1/2 bath more, and just cool landlords.

Now, I like to look at the rentals available and our old place is renting at $100 less than what we paid for it, and there are plenty of homes for rent for less than what we're paying.

But, when we look at everything, our rent didn't change (even though they told us when we signed the lease a year ago that it would go up $100....I think they don't want to lose us as tenants), they are right next door so if anything happens they are right there (and they cool people too :) ) we're happy, and most importantly (two things) We don't want the hassle of moving (until we buy a place of our own) and we can afford it.

Obviously, if something were to happen and we couldn't afford it we would move, but things are 'ok'.

They aren't great, but I'm looking forward to starting the Total Money Makeover so we can become debt free and look towards buying our first home with a nice down payment.

Whoa...sorry to kind of 'not vent' in the vent thread....

So to make it a legit post, here it is:

Why must my clients who are on vacation use the PADLOCK to lock the door so that I cannot get in because I don't have a key for that specific Lock when they KNOW I'm coming to work for them?????

So here I sit in a Starbucks, working remotely...uh I mean 'working' :D hehe, while I wait for the bossman to arrive with the backdoor key.

Well, in an interesting turn of events, while I was searching for apartments/houses, I came across an ad for the apartments we currently live in - strangely the prices have gone down hmm.

We currently have a 750 sq ft apartment that we pay $975 a month for. They are now renting 950 sq ft apartments for $925 a month (that a one year least, so add $50 for a 6 month lease).

So wrote and asked her about these new prices I had seen - she tells me they lowered the rent. Uh huh.

So I write back, what is available and does this mean our rent will go down if we sign a new lease?? Whatever.

How are you, ladies? Krikit, did I read right? you got a Slap chop too? Do you love nuts more now?

I used mine to aid me in making pecan pies! Pretty awesome I must say.

Good luck with the rental search, T.M. i am about to give notice on my apartment -- it's SO freaky. I have lived there for 6 years. It makes it all seem very, very final.

Hope you guys have had a great holiday. From my thread skimming, seems as such. have missed being here but we've been busy with stuff.

Played hearts 'til 3am last night.

Tired. But must make another pecan pie for tomorrow's dinner.

Just wanted to say hello.

OH and congrats to Raven and all the newly pregnant ladies, that is awesome.

Thanks for the preggo congrats, everyone! :-)

I hear that preggo women glow during their pregnancy but mine's not starting off very well. My face is breaking out like a teen going through puberty and my waist now "muffin tops" over my jeans.

Last night, hubby said he wants to have sex but he's too lazy to clean up afterwards, so no sex.

I'm feeling very unattractive right now.
