Totally agreed.

The whole thing and the waiting is excessive to say the least. I think that their mandate is: Immigration is a privilege and not a right so... the don't feel the need to accommodate anyone no matter what the circumstances are which is unfortunate.

I have heard, and correct me if I'm wrong, but there is NO reason save for deployment that can expedite getting an interview. I think if one of the spouses is sick, like on the death bed sick, that may be cause as well but that's about it.

It's too bad -- it's such a rock and a hard place, eh?

Good luck to all you happily pregnant folk out there !

:)

I understand their predicament, but simply because you're dealing with a situation out of your control, adding 6 months to your wait time just seems a bit excessive. The more I deal with my own Gov, the more it makes my head hurt.

Not to mention that you might have to get your senator involved, sheesh! I'm crossing my fingers for you and hoping the potential timing conflict turn out to be a non-issue.

Yes you do - and you have the right to speak out about it. Most of the people in the Canada forum are potential immigrants rather than Americans. The American citizens need to go to bat for their rights!

I think immigration is a right - a right of the American citizen to be able to legally apply for and be approved for immigration for their family to the U.S. - to be treated with respect at all times.

Things would move a lot faster in a perfect world that had no terrorism!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

This is not really a vent, but more of an annoying tidbit of the day. Of course, the over all end effect is awesome and will definitely make my weekend.

So my hubby's cousin and I organized a cookie baking event for Saturday night -- all the women in the mum side of the family will come together with cookie dough and recipes and exchange cookies, etc. Its a really simple, fun holiday get-together and we plan to make it into an annual thing! Anyway cousin-in-law sent invites prolly two-three weeks ago and invited everyone including the WIL.

Last night, MIL called BIL to ask about what to buy them for Christmas. As she was ending the conversation, she said, "Ill see X (WIL) and grandson (the cutey-patootie I love soo much!) on Saturday." BIL replies, "Oh, theyre not coming. Son has a party at his mom's house so he is staying there for the evening, and we've decided to join another party for the evening."

MIL was devasted that grandson isnt coming naturally. Im ecstatic that WIL is not coming, obviously.

However, I cant help be peeved at the fact that she was not even going to give us any indication that she wasnt going to show up... that she didnt even grab the phone from the BIL to say, "hey sorry Im not coming"... or called the cousin who organized to party to tell her of the change of plans. AND even though this is just a small cookie event and its a silly little thing and we will have lots of estrogen-get-together events in the future, why take another invitation when you already know and have RSVPed to the event a few weeks ago? It is just rude.

Of course, Saturday is now going to be sooo awesome, so Im not complaining... just whining :D

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Nah, that's not oversensitive at all... I'd be very, very upset if this were the case for me.

Does your hubby mind it at all? If he does, maybe he needs to set a "one call a week" limit, barring emergencies with the kids?

No, youre not being sensitive. You have to put boundaries. Im sure your husband wont appreciate it if your exes called you... kids or no kids... *comfort*

Nah, he's used to it, because it has been this way since they divorced. I have tried to explain it bothers me and I don't think he needs to be her support system anymore, she needs to find her own, and he says he understands, but he doesn't shut her down. Ah well. Will keep trying.

Heeheehee. Maybe I will arrange to have some of my exes start calling me.

Woman, I'd be UPSET too! She's keeping a territorial hand on your husband and using her kids as an excuse to keep in touch. Either that or she's very insecure about parenting and relying too much on your hubby. Either way, it's disrupting your marriage. Have a discussion with your hubby about it--Decide together what is a reasonable amount of contact. What issues are important enough for her to check in with him? If he can talk calmly to his ex about these limits and get some agreement, you might have some resolution. :-)

Not excessive at all. I had the same problem when hubby and I were dating, then engaged. His ex-gf would call him all of the time. Finally I said end the conversations or I'm gone. He finally told her that they had to end all communication (she was doing it to try and get him back the whole time) and she freaked. So him being the 'nice' one thought maybe he should slowly stop.

I didn't agree.

She finally backed way off.

But I know exactly how you feel.

Definitely not!

If she continues, I strongly suggest rolling up a newspaper and swatting her on the nose when she calls. Repeat "NO" loudly.

... :innocent:

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."
