Well i dont want to change the subject from the farts but i have to say my vent

First day at my new job today (that is not the vent part)

I usually work out in the morning (thank you unemployemnt) but today i had to do it after work. Turned out to be a little later than expected so i wanted to do a shorter work out. Like run 2 miles.

Well 2 min after i started on the treadmill, i started “seeing stars” which means huge headache coming up.

Now the huge headache is here and im pissed. :ranting::ranting:

I don’t know what causes these “stars” and how to prevent them? Anyone?

Maybe lack of water?

They're known as 'auras' that are a common precursor to a migraine. Not all migraine sufferers get them, but most do. Nothing you can do to avoid getting them aside from knowing your migraine trigger.

I dont get auras but I have heard of them. I get bad migraines (associated with puking for 12 hours) and I'd recommend Maxalt or Zomig. They are the bizness.

Stress & dehydration are definitely possible triggers. Skipping meals too.

Zomig didn't work for me. It usually made me feel worse. :\

Ugh... you wouldnt want that when you're already feeling that crappy.

I like Zomig & Maxalt because they melt under your tongue, which is great if you cant keep other drugs down.

Maxalt gave me a pleasant buzz too.

I've been lucky, my migraines stopped happening out of nowhere. I was having one almost every other day at one point. Dark room and sleep was the only solution. :(

same for me.. dark room, sleep and silence.

I dont have them as much anymore either thankfully. Alcohol is about the only thing that triggers them anymore. People think it's a hangover... they have no idea unless they've had migraines before. Im happy when I get a simple hangover! ;)

I've had migraines since I was seven years old. Sometimes I get an aura and sometimes I don't. One of the many migraine triggers for me is rapid weather changes and unfortunately, Vancouver does that very well. To be fair, so did Houston. The only place I've found that worked well for my head was San Francisco and the cost of living there makes Vancouver look cheap.

I take Relpax and that works really well for me. Unfortunately it's also very expensive. Too bad my Dad can't bring home samples for me now. :P

I remember when my Dad brought home Imitrex when it first came out -- and it was in injection form. They didn't have the pill form until later. I never handled Imitrex well, especially when it was injected. I'd get breathing difficulties and my muscles would spasm. Zomig and Maxalt worked well and I liked the fact Maxalt also came in dissolvable tablets. Axcert gave me chest pain, so I stopped that one. Amerge was useless for me and Stadol made me hallucinate.

A funny story about Stadol: I took it one time when I was a living at home (I must've been in my late teens) and I started to see things. I had a model of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701A (yes, I am that much of a dork) and I saw it attacking me. That was obviously disturbing, so I gave my Dad a call and he thought this was hilarious.

I've also had weird side-effects from pain medication, like Ultram (tramadol). Usually it makes me hyper, but one time I got "high" from it. I don't remember this at all, but my Mom said I thought the words "the" and "whatever" was so funny that I couldn't stop laughing.

And on a final note... I used to play EverQuest a long time ago and I named one character "Zomig." I thought it sounded fairly fantasy-like. Well, within the first ten minutes of game play, someone came up to me and said: "Hey, I take that medication!"

While I couldn't do acupuncture, hypnotism sounds rather interesting. I don't quite know how I feel about the idea of it (not being in control makes me nervous), but I wonder if it'd be worth it to try..

You're always under control so nothing to worry about there. It's kind of like lying there resting, while the Dr talks to you and creates images in your mind. Not scary at all.

Zomig didn't work for me.

I read that as ZOMG!!

I don't get stars.. I do get a slight blue hue to everything I see out of my left eye about an hour before a migraine is triggered.

Happens far too often for my liking.

I've been lucky, my migraines stopped happening out of nowhere. I was having one almost every other day at one point. Dark room and sleep was the only solution. :(

Mine stopped too....but after I hit my head really hard in a car wreck. Maybe it jolted something back into place? When I got the aura part of it, it was often flashing lines in my field of vision, or my vision would blur out in one (and on one occasion, both) of my eyes. I had the aura-puking-photophobic-dizzy kinda migraines for a year or so, probably every other day to once a week. After the wreck, the migraines went away, but my panic attacks returned. In retrospect, I'll take the migraines.

There is this guy standing at my desk right now as I type this... he's choosing to stand at my desk and click his pen, and 'hmm' to himself. There are 4 other empty desks in the area, but he's choosing to stand at mine. Do I know him? No. He's waiting for the maintenance manager to come up and give him something.

But he could stand in so many other places than at my desk. :P

Comnputers! Blech!!! And stupid people like me who kept putting off backing up the hard drive .... blech! I've probably lost all of Declan's pics from birth until now. I am soo mad at myself.

There are specialists who can retrieve data off of damaged hard drives. My sister had to do that about 8 months ago for the exact same reason. It cost her about $250 for it.

I really need to vent for a second.

My parents are going to put me in a mental instutution. Since I was 10 years old their relationship has been so up and down. One day they are madly in love, the next day they hate each other and wish they never met. They say this stuff to each other too. I wish I never met you, you're a bad person, you're lazy, you use me, I never want to see you again... just incredibly hurtful mean comments. As I started to get older I stopped caring, because I knew that they would just forgive and forget like nothing ever happened. Well Sunday night I get a call from my 15 year old sister, completely bawling on the phone. She told me that my dad walked out after a huge fight with my mom and said he wants a divorce. He packed his bags and dissapeared. At first I told her that he would be back, he always comes back, but she told me it was different and they were really done this time. My mom called me about an hour later and said the same thing. They are getting a divorce, she doesn't want to be with him anymore, and she is scared and doesn't know what to do because she feels alone and I'm not around. So obviously this makes me feel like a horrible person. It also makes me feel like its my fault since I've been the mediator all my life. Now I'm not around and there is nobody to keep the peace and what happens? Things just fall apart I guess.

So, needless to say I was very upset. I blamed myself, I felt so bad for my sister and my mom made me feel like I abandoned her. I spent most of Sunday night crying, and I don't ever cry. So I get a call yesterday from my mom. She just wanted to tell me that he came home and everything is ok. Now I'm just so angry. Why do they feel the need to drag me into this? I thought when I moved down here I could just leave that behind, but no. Its even harder now that I'm gone. And the sad reality has sunk in that I'm going to have to mediate fights between my mom and dad, my sister and dad, and my sister and mom for the rest of my life. Its just over a phone now.

Sorry to bother you guys with this. Too much personal information, I know, but I just needed to get that off my chest.
