So Bride-witchzilla had her shower on Saturday that I boycotted. Apparently she was a complete b*tch to EVERYONE in my BIL's family -- basically left them sitting in the living room alone, did not talk to them at all except for when they came and left. She was rude to my MIL again, even though my MIL spent $$$ on her cake, present, and food. Nothing new really, but finally, everyone in the family suddenly decided to talk to my MIL about her.

Needless to say, my MIL and FIL are finally speaking to BIL. And MIL is going to talk to her on Wed. I told my husband and his parents that if nobody in the family speaks out, I will talk to my BIL, no matter how awkward it will be, and if it means we are never talking again. So I am really relieved that MIL is doing it, but if she chickens out, Ive decided I will.

Some of the highlights of the shower that was related to me include:

WIL was getting a lot of knives as a bridal shower present. My husband's grandmother who has Alzheimer's and has basically lost any thought-filters, went, "God, look at all the knives she's getting. We better have a shower for Matt so he gets his own knives".

My MIL bought a huge sheet cake from a really nice local baker for the witch. The baker wrote "Showers of Happiness" on the cake. One of her sisters commented, "It should say, "Showers of Happiness, you f*cking b*tch". But then, you would need a bigger cake, so really, it should say, "You f*cking b*tch"."

God, I hope they do break up.

Finally married... and still married... ;)

My sister in law is soooooo irritating. I suppose she's a nice enough girl, but she really has no concept of reality. She thinks things will just happen for her and that she doesn't have to do any work. She recently entered a drawing where the prize was an all expenses paid vacation to some exotic locale. She really thinks she's going to win it. So much so that she was calling my wife asking about weather conditions and local customs. Her and her boyfriend were doing research about the vacation destination and having at-length discussions about which cruise/vacation to pick.

"Would you like lettuce, tomato or onion on your wrap?"

"Lettuce and onion, please. No tomato."

So now I'm picking tomatoes out of my wrap... :bonk:

Oooh, can I add to the SIL rant?

My MIL's laptop finally gave out, after years off wear and tear (already being used when purchased) and several months of taping and re-taping the power supply (unbeknownst to me). So it went kaput and, as she needs computer access for work, I fixed up her daughter's old POS desktop as a temporary solution. It was actually quite terrible, however, it worked for her to go online and do bills, etc.

Well, SIL comes to me and says that her and hubby are getting a bonus in July and are planning on purchasing a $400 laptop for her to use, so if MIL mentions anything to me about buying something, I'm supposed to persuade her to wait it out. I mention that maybe in July, Ben and I can help out with it a bit (big mistake for me to mention, however I was thinking that by that time, I'll hopefully be working, etc, and it'd be nice for us kids to all go in on such a gift to my MIL).

So a couple of days go by, and one of the women who works with my MIL offers to give her two laptops for free that are missing working hard drives, to see if I couldn't manage to get something working using the parts from the two. Works for me.

She brought the laptops home on Thursday, and Friday I began working on them.

Well, SIL calls to say that her a hubby found a real neat laptop for $700 that they want to buy my MIL, did we want to split it with them? I told her that we couldn't afford it now regardless, as I thought they were doing this later in the summer, and I explained about the laptops I was working on that were given to her for free. She said that worked, maybe they'd still look at getting her something new later down the line, etc. Okay fine.

So I spend all day Friday and Saturday working on the machines. Got something working. Something perfect? No. It's a four year old machine at least, but it boots, it runs, it connects to the internet, etc. Probably a touch slower than her old machine, but still, fully functioning and FREE. She was overjoyed, and spent all night Saturday playing/working on it (she works 70ish hours a week and the only thing she enjoys on her time off is sitting on the laptop while watching TV - which I certainly don't begrudge her). She was so happy I could get them working and couldn't thank me enough.

Sunday she spent the day with my SIL. About halfway through the day, SIL calls up Ben and says that we should really consider spending the money to go half on a new laptop, the one I put together was a POS and my MIL couldn't stop complaining about it all day.

She went on for about fifteen minutes about how much MIL says it sucks etc etc and that we just have to spend the money with them. Um, no. We don't. We don't have it, we don't need to spend that kind of money right now. And, she was lying anyhow... I know for a fact that the machine isn't some wonderful thing, but it's no POS, and it's running fine. I know for a fact that my MIL would tell me if she needed something else done to it, and she wouldn't complain like that. My SIL's trying to manipulate us into helping them out, completely ignoring the fact that I worked real hard to get that machine working for her mother, AND ignoring the fact that them buying some $700 laptop (that I of course would have to teach my MIL how to use, as she wouldn't have a clue how to navigate through Windows 7) won't erase the thousands of dollars she owes her mom.

Oi.

All because I tried to do something nice.

I don't have a SIL rant but I do have a BIL rant...

my hubby's cell phone is on his brother's plan (I think I talked about this before) anywho, a few months back the phone stopped working and we found out that he hadn't paid the bills for a few months...

so after about 2 months of waiting we decided to cancel his Sirius Satellite radio that is in my hubby's name (yeah I know this is all messed up ) and just short of a week later we finally here from his BIL, hmm I wonder why ... He says that he finally paid the phone account off and was wondering if my hubby would like to go with him to get a new phone, so the plan was to get one of the free phones, which there was a pretty good selection of...

so off my hubby went to get his phone and he comes home with a phone that cost $50 plus a cover that cost another $50 :o so I ask him what happened and he said his brother talked him into getting this phone because it was the same one he had... and I was like well haven't you heard of the word no.. and then he said well, his brother insisted ... the BIL paid for it but we have to pay him back

now that I think about it, this is more of a Hubby rant ...lol but I know how his BIL can be.. he can get very pushy etc...

oh and to top it all off he contacted my hubby a bunch of times, the following week asking when we were going to reactivate the Satellite radio ... I have half a mind to deduct the money we paid for his radio off what we owe him for the phone ... grrrrr

BIL Vent:

He's moving to Hawaii for University in a few months and has never see my son play a game of hockey. My son really wants him to come to one of his games before he leaves so we invite him and his reply: "Well not to be a weird nerd but does Kimmo Timonen attend any of the games?"

Why does that really matter? Are you there to see my son or his kid who you don't even know. And no Kimmo doesn't attend the games, I'm pretty sure he has BIGGER and BETTER things going on.

So we told him no, and he hasn't replied since. Gee thanks... good to know you'd be there for Ethan. headbonk.gif

I don't like my sister in law either.

Various reasons, mostly because she's a spoiled B**ch who treats her mother like #######.

What is it with us Canadians and marrying into having rantable sister in laws?

Maybe it's the Canadian polite thing? I would have cut all of these people off a looooong time ago.
