That's just terrible.

I hope he didn't steal your wedding rings and they're just hiding somewhere... because if he did that's just... so low.

If my brother stole my wedding rings and sold them I'd bawl my eyes out

He has asked them, and although he denys it....they were the only ones that were here that day and we have torn the house up several times looking for them. He has stolen stuff from us before and denied it, but admited it later, so I am certain that they have already been pawned somewhere.

We will have to go shopping for new ones for the formal wedding so we will have them for an AOS interview!

:( that would be the last time ever that I would invite them over and I'd be tempted to call the police too, might be able to get new ones from the insurance company with a police report on it, or they might even find yours at the pawn shops.

I'm sorry, that really sucks. My ex's brother was a druggie and he would steal from his parents--and they never really came to the reality that he had a problem. I recall 1 time they came back from vacation (he stayed home) and a bunch of stuff was missing. He stated someone broke in, ya right, lol they found most of the stuff at the local pawn store!! Back in my navy days, things wouldgo missing, and this was while 1 was out at sea, so you knew it had to be one of ur ship mates. Back in the not so politically correct days--they dealt with thieves a lot better--dropped a hatch on the fingers!! And those hatches are HEAVY!!!! I hate thieves!! Id shoot them!! At the hospital where i work, I tell all my pts if possible send all belongings home with a loved one, even though were an honest bunch, lol Before xmas we had 1 pt come in that was Super confused/disorientated, he had over $40,000 in CASH on him!! and he got back all of it,lol No one wanted to touch it, not even security, but they did in the end, sealed it and put in safe.

Hope u find ur rings!! If one can't prove they stole it, hard to say what route to take. You could ask them if they saw the rings, or if they saw the rings and put it in their pocket to keep so they wouldn't get lost, more or less ask them in a way that ur not accusing them, but in a way that sounds like they were trying to help you, if ya catch my drift. Just maybe the rings will magically appear!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

On Thursday evening after our wedding my husband asked his brother to come over to help move some of our newly arrived goods into storage. His brother came over with a friend to help out. But later in the evening I noticed that my rings were not where I thought I had put them. I told hubby about it because I thought maybe he had moved them. We were looking around, and then he realized that his ring was missing as well (we decided not to wear our rings until our formal wedding in july so he had taken his off an put it back in the box). Both the brother and the friend have a history of stealing things, but to steal someones wedding rings on their wedding day....does it get any lower than that?????

Oh my god..what a horrible thing to have happen. How much of an A$$hole do you have to be to do that to someone. I hope you get them back..that is just sooo low..just wow. I'm sooo sorry collens :(

Remember my vent from 2 weeks back about the incredibly high pollen counts here? Well, here is a slide show in the Atlanta Journal Constitution that shows what we have been dealing with - although it is better now than it was last week: http://www.weather.com/activities/health/allergies/slideshow/pollen.html

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

One of my friends around Toronto is having a hell of a hard time with his allergies right now.

I liked the slideshow, that's an awful lot of pollen. I'm so glad it doesn't effect me.

My husband just got a call from a friend of his brothers who confirmed that he has stolen the rings and sold them at a jewelry shop :( We will call in the morning and hopefully we can get them back somehow. He called the police and filed a report as well.

Unfortunately I too am familiar with this. To save the details... now that I am living back at home and until I move to the US I do not tell ANYONE (other than my dad and fiance) what valuables I have. Our wedding rings, my designer sunglasses, camera equipment or any extra USD I keep get hidden. So far so good I haven't had anything taken from me other than booze... which I now hide too! Stuff still goes missing in other parts of the house at times but I think the 'thief's' are afraid of me so don't really try with my territory anymore. Good for them to be afraid, even better for me. It's a real shame though.

See profile for our K-1 Visa/AOS story from 2010-2011Apparently we love USCIS/NVC so much we left and are doing it again! This time giving IR-1 a whirl. Rock on immigrators.

We are both done with him...I think my husband is more angry over it then I am, and he was the first to say that he will have nothing to do with him anymore. I am happy that he is making a stand, as there are a lot of people who would continue to try to help because it is 'family'.

I'm glad your husband is making a stand.

I really, really do hope you get those wedding rings back. Crossing my fingers for you two!

That is great, in spite of the horrible situation you are in. I am glad your husband is taking this problem face on and is doing something about it. Nothing like trying to make excuses for a family member, or pretending nothing has happened *roll eyes*

And it is hard to help anyone, including family, if they don't help themselves first.

Finally married... and still married... ;)
