I can't stand going to the DMV. My license is due to expire in May and they won't accept my extension letter, which is a valid US document as proof of my residence. So come May I will most likely be driving around with an expired license and you know what? I don't fvcking care anymore.

And yea I talked to the supervisor and they told me that I needed my green card.

I think my blood begins to boil even before I get into the place because every single time I know it's going to be one big ####### show.

I hear your frustration. :girlwerewolf2xn:

I'll be going through ROC when my license is due for renewal; I can hardly wait!

Oh ya you're in Jersey too right?

I think treble may have had the same problem. I am starting to wonder if they can legally deny my letter which is a US document. My husband said he wants me to talk to a lawyer because if I get pulled over at all with an expired license I'll get into trouble. Seems the only time anyone wants to move around here is if you threaten legal action.

Hmm... "GIVE SPRAILENES HER LICENSE OR I'LL SUE!!"

...

It was worth a try.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

I havnt even TRIED to deal with the DMV yet.

I'm not going to until I absolutely have to. The DMV around here always has like 30 people outside lined up for things. It's just crazy.

I don't want to sue, but there has to be something that can be done. I am holding a valid, legal US government documents stating that my green card has been extended for a full year while I wait for my green card. If they don't want to give me an extension on my license what am I supposed to do?

I need to go to work... I need to drive my son to hockey... I can't live without a car... not in the area I'm in.

I left in tears... and not because I was sad, I was freaking pissed off.

So I understand people not wanting to deal with the DMV, and you're right it wasn't like this back home. Sorry for the comparison, I try not to do it but that is one thing I can agree on.

It really sucks that they won't honour the extension letter. They have their rules that override common sense. I'm worried about that for my ROC as well, but I have a year to go. Can you escalate at the DMV? Or try another office?

I have to go to the Cherry Hill one before my license expired they sent me a letter saying to come in and renew. I am going to go back next week... AGAIN. They said one of the other supervisors would be back again, but I am even thinking maybe I should go see a lawyer before hand and know what my rights are. All the DMV is are paper pushers... I wish I could give them some credit, but I can't. They're morons.

Ugh, Sprailenes that's beyond frustrating! The DMV is the most frustrating place on earth, seriously. Dealing with them is more difficult then dealing with USCIS.

It took me almost 4 months to get my DL here in Colorado, 4 months! My AOS approval was quicker. Unfortunately they know nothing about immigration, they don't know what a document is when they're looking at it, they have no idea what legal presence is and how to prove it, and the best part is that they are completely unaware of their own rules and guidelines! There is no common sense applied at all. They're public service robots!

Sorry you're having such a hard time. You're a mom with a job and places to go! Its so unreasonable how they expect us to completely put our lives on hold because they don't understand what a perfectly valid document is.

Yea I can't imagine. We're supposed to obey the law but it's very difficult to do it when they can't recognize an official document when they see one, and then to make me feel like I have somehow made this document up. Yea okay. When the lady told me: "Anyone could make this" I just looked at her and said: "I'm from Canada... I am not that desperate to stay here."

I would definitely try to speak with a supervisor when you return. That is absolutely ridiculous that they will not recognize a government document. I suspect you know much more about the system than they do!

So today I enjoyed the first sunny, warm day that we've had in quite awhile. I went for a run, walked my 10,000 steps and took a bike ride around the old psych ward a few miles away from us -- very Shutter Island!!!

anyway, came home and turned on the TV and my day was ruined by a show called The Wendy O Williams show or something. What is with that chick???? HOWYOUDOIN'???? yes, yes, I changed the channel but WOW, had no idea about that...
