Despite dreading visiting the DMV earlier this month to get my Florida license, I bit my lip and went in. And it was as horrible as I was expecting.

Now, the stupid temporary license (which I could've printed myself, it's so generic) that was supposed to hold me over until the card came in the mail is going to expire in a freaking week. Still, no card.

Which means I get the joy of wasting another three hours of my life there next week.

Sorry Sam. :(

I must admit, I've really had horseshoes up my butt through most of this process. I have a hunch my SSN isn't on its way and I'll need to go down to the SSN office on Monday, but other than that, everything has gone quite smoothly for me.

My vent? I can't stop eating ice cream. I've probably gained weight since I've been down here already. I'm just compelled to go to the ice cream aisle whenever I'm in a grocery store...

Welcome to America... lets be fat asses together. :D

and beer is soooooooo much cheaper, lol Wagmens has molsons, labatts and moos head

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Argh...I just found out that The New Pornographers are coming to Washington D.C. on June 22nd and that tickets went on sale today. I scrambled to buy a pair...and they're already sold out! I didn't realize so many people even knew who they WERE down here!

I've actually lost 10lbs since I've been here! It's because I have the time to go running, take hikes and stuff. i also am one of those people that when i'm not chained to a desk (Like my job in TO) I just don't snack. We do love pizza Fridays and I 've already agreed with Wyatt about the ice cream thing -- it's also my sweet of choice.

But yeah, I've been getting a ton of exercise since I've been here!

Also enjoying the cheaper beer here too!

:D

Wow, I'd go see that concert! Well, I love the New Pornographers but I'm actually not a fan of big crowds and such so... I'll buy the CD instead!

Sorry you didn't get tickets, Wyatt!

CVS VENT!

So I called in to their pharmacy yesterday to refill my inhaler, said I'd pick it up Friday night, figured I'd stop by after I do my shopping and such. They said all was fine. I went in to get it and... they're out of stock. Okay, so what do I do? They tell me that I'll have to wait until Monday or Saturday morning when they can make arrangements for me to get my prescription from another store. Hmm okay... well this is an inhaler... I have pretty severe asthma. I have some left now, but still... this is like a life saving medicine.. to just say: "Oh we ran out... come back on Monday or call tomorrow" is stupid. No one called me to tell me this. You'd think they would have called or something since I called in the prescription last night and they told me that all was well. Ugh.

Yeah, this is serious. You have a right to be annoyed. That is two days to fill the prescription - and they should have called you and told you that it wouldn't be available because it wasn't in stock. Since you did give them enough notice they could have already arranged to have it brought in from another store and have it available tonight. If it were me I would have pulled the prescription and gone to another pharmacy that did have it in stock. I've done that with my insulin, actually. If they had been honest with you or called you back after you phoned it in, you would have been able to make other arrangements. It sure doesn't sound like they are very interested in having your business. My pharmacy has since learned to check when I drop off the prescription to make sure it is in stock before they tell me now that they can fill it.
