Is your name Tony? :P

But I'm a part time superhero, if there's ever an emergency I can pretty much get out of it. I may not have a SIM card but my cape and swim goggles are ALWAYS near by.

DA DA DA DAAA! *superhero stance*

I HATE GPS. When my husband and I made our cross country drive in the US we used maps and only maps, and did just fine. And it was a lot of fun figuring it out on our own actually. In fact, one day we were ready to stop for the night, and made it past our planned destination, but not quite to our back up destination, and he was about to look up hotels on his iPhone because we weren't familiar with the small town we ended up in, and I was like 'well I saw a Days Inn just off the overpass', and he's like OK! Let's go there!

Use your eyes people. YOUR EYES. Look at the world around you, not the mini-screen.

I love our GPS. We're going to Vegas tonight and we stay at our in-laws house and when we get there and its so dark out the GPS is a livesaver!

It's also a lot easier to get around in NY with a GPS.

Count me in the I love my GPS club. That said, I usually have a backup map with me just incase I get lost (now my backup maps are on my iphone ) Its helped me get oriented around here, and it yells at me if I'm going over the speed limit which was nice when we were doing the cross country tip and my eyes werent use to looking at the other speed wheel yet, now I'm trained on where to look though lol.

LOL Yeah the first two days of our trip was interesting because we were also figuring out the car as well as our surroundings. Having a cat and hamster in there really made things an adventure.

Did it take you long to get the miles vs. kilometres speed handled? I'll admit, we used the iPhone to google 'how many kilometres is 70 MPH'. lol Then we eventually figured out how to change the units on the speedometre. That helped a lot. lol We're apparently not the sharpest tools in the shed :P Though I am proud to say that to figure out how to change the units on the car we looked in the old-fashioned paper manual in the glove box... rather than the iPhone/Google. lol

Yeah, I love that about newer cars -- change from Metric to "English" (don't ask me why they call it that...) at the touch of a button. I've always had a firm grasp of the relationship between U.S. measurements and Canadian ones though. Ounces I'm not so good with...but with most of the others, I feel like I'm "bilingual".

I'm definitely bilingual when it comes to temperatures of C vs. F, but that's about it. I don't really get miles or yards (or ounces, now that you mention it). I love the metric system. It makes ABSOLUTE sense. Everything in 10s. LOVE it. "english"/US system? No sense.

+1

Metric system makes much more sense, and makes things easier to convert. The U.S. was supposed to convert to metric when Canada did, but backed out. I just set the thremometer in my car to celcius and refer to it in celcius. Just makes things easier for Mel.

We got one before we went on our 3 week road trip after we got married. We also used the atlas as well. The GPS came in handy for lots of things...hotels, restaurants...etc..so that we wouldn't have to spend endless time and gas driving in circles. Course, Tim and I are a little spoiled and try to stay at Hampton Inns as much as we can..

However, sometimes that little critter can be wrong...telling us to turn left when we should turn right..and we're still trying to figure out why it made us circle around an entire block to our hotel, when we could have drove straight down the street, made a u-turn...and pulled up in front of it!!

Awww that's sweet. I'm afraid...I'm old school.. I prefer Fahrenheit, and glad the van has both at the push of a button. I much prefer lbs, to grams...and gallons to liters..although, back home I was getting used to it. My son however, needs metric so he knows what temperature it is when I tease him that it's almost 80F (26C) in MARCH!
