This new VJ layout SUCKS!!!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I need so much more coffee for all this. OY!!!

And damnit i hate rain..my landlord turned off the heat..let me explain, i live in a house that was converted into 3 apts. a 3 bedroom upstairs and two bachelors downstairs. now the whole house is heated withe a furnace, however the thermostat is upstairs and since the kids moved out the landlord has had it off.

Now i do have electric heaters, as a 2ndary source but when i rented the place it was with "heating included"..if i use the electric, my bill goes up to like 150 a month or more ouch! and then it's not longer heating included...granted i'm only here another couple weeks but still ..grumble..

old house near river = cold dank and smelly earth smell .

i just want a fireplace and a warm david to cuddle up against..miu!

I agree Mrs. Cat! Like instead of spending his very precious extra time with me, now he has to do research for that witch's taxes.

LOL Kathryn! I will tell the hubby this. Seriously, doing family tax returns isnt so hard (according to hubby). He has the program for it, etc. My husband actually offered to do his parents' taxes. They are wonderful people and really helped my husband a lot. His dad thanked him for the offer but said he is fine, knowing that hubby is so busy.

But the WIL wants him to find her tax breaks and her situation is not typical. And just to expect it and not even appreciate the favor my husband is doing for her... its so unnerving. I told the hubby to just shred her paperwork when he gets them and say never arrive... :D

He is considering billing her for his time... but I know he will never do that because he is kind and polite and it would never occur to him to take advantage of anyone, even this witch.

On our next family gathering, I will loudly announce how busy the husband is that we literally have to schedule time together during the week and how much I dislike people who assume he will do their taxes for them for free because they are friends or family.

And this new VJ layout is making me dizzy :P

Finally married... and still married... ;)

I'm pretty cool with the new layout, though the new system (understandably) doesn't know the "last read" times for all the threads, so I have to go through a bunch of them again and find the last familiar posts. :P That'll only take a day or so though.

The last design had a fast-reply on it, too, but you had to click a button to make it appear.

Oh I find it all so confusing. All the new buttons. And the colors are so close to each other... I dont know is this a form of color blindness??? I can seem to distinguish a new post and an old post from the new color scheme... *tears*

I was quite annoyed this morning. I went to get my vehicle registration out of my car for the parking pass at this building...and it wasn't there! The last person who had it was -- you guessed it -- the border guard at my POE. So I drove across the entire country without vehicle registration! Fortunately I didn't get into any accidents. Incidentally, I DID get a speeding ticket in Washington State (literally a mere hour after my POE), but for some reason the officer didn't ask for registration. Perhaps because he saw how full my car was with stuff.

Anyhow, I called the border crossing to find out if they had it there, and the officer on the phone sounded very annoyed, placing the onus on ME, asking three or four times, "Well, why didn't you take it, sir?" to which I replied, three or four times, "Because he gave me back all of my documents and I didn't think to check if that one item was in there!" As it turns out, it was in their lost and found box. Why it would be there is anyone's guess. The good news is that they're mailing it to me. Hopefully it doesn't take too long, as I'll need it to register my car here soon (a process I'm dreading, to be honest, given the fact that there's a tax on cars here). But yes...quite annoying!
