I've been getting these calls on my cell phone that don't leave messages and tonight when it rang I answered and no one was there. The number was displayed each time so tonight I called them back asking who they were and why they were calling me and not bothering to speak.

Apparently, they are a debt collection agency (Allied Interstate) and she wanted to know if I was this Tiffany person or knew this Tiffany person. I know no Tiffany's and told her so. She then asked if such and such was my address (wasn't even the same town) and I again said no. So, she verified the number and I said, yes - and I have had that number for 7 years and no one had ever called for a Tiffany on it before. She apologized and said she would remove my number. ( We will see.)

I then went to a great website called 'whocalled.us ( http://whocalled.us/ ) and discovered that Allied Interstate is one of the bottom of the scum collection agencies with a long history or harassing people who are unrelated to the person from whom they are trying to collect a debt. Reading over some of the comments about this company I came across this one and have to share it- I may even use it myself if they call back:

02/14/2010 I've gotten a few calls and they're always looking for the same person and I always tell them they have the wrong number and ask them not to call again. Got tired of it so I told them that they just moved out and I only have their office number for them to contact. I gave them (303)825-1266 which happens to be the FBI Public Corruption Hotline. Heck, for all I know they person they're looking for works there. I haven't gotten a call back for a few days.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Some members of my family have no class at all... they just disgust me with their comments they leave on my facebook. I removed my uncle because he has to reply to almost everything I write about, and its always toilet humour and just sooo disgusting.

So I removed him, and he tells my mom that I'm an apple.. which is a derogatory term for a native person - red on the outside and white on the inside. I don't get why my race is an issue, and why not wanting all my friends, coworkers etc to see that kind of stuff written on my wall has to do with it. I mean he's the kind of man, when he first met my husband he asked him to pull his finger. He just grosses me out.. always has, always will. I just don't find that kind of stuff funny at all.

I mean I didn't feel like I could write anything without him saying something, and I'd usually have to quickly delete it.

This is the same uncle who mooches from my mom... go figure.

Wow...thats horrible! I'm sorry you have to deal with that kind of behaviour at all, let alone from a family member.

Sorry to hear it, Nev. And yes, I saw some of those comments on your FB page. No class indeed!

It's very similar to the situation with my sister. I HAVE to put up with her, because my mother hates family conflict, and is quite close to her...but I regret ever adding her to my Facebook a couple of years ago. I "unfriended" her last year for awhile, until she was all repentant and apologetic just before the wedding, so I added her with "limited profile access", but she still posts smarmy things from time to time. She's just a horrible, vain, shallow, spiteful and jealous woman. I have no love for her whatsoever, and if it wasn't for the fact that I care about my mother's welfare (who is close to her), I would just block my sister entirely from my life.

In short, I don't blame you for nixing your uncle. That really wasn't a very nice thing for him to say. I think you're awesome as you are, and don't think race should come into it at all either. I just don't understand things like that.

Me either... and if finding those kinds of things classless makes me an apple, what does that say for the rest of the native population? Kind of insulting them all dontcha think?

He's just a jerk, he feels entitled, would rather everyone take care of him rather than take care of himself. I too would love to nix him out of my life, but again my mother would be heartbroken because she hates family conflict too. Also, he's already called most of my family since last night to tell them that I'd choose my husband over them in a second and I've completely changed since leaving.

I woke up to a bunch of messages asking what was wrong. Really? So I told them what he wrote and they were all disgusted too saying: "He thinks he's so funny but he isn't"

So he's trying to turn my family against me for something he's done... yep again, no class.

I feel awful because our dog is yappy and in the mornings she barks too, and I am always telling her to shut up. So on behalf of yappy dog owners everywhere I'd like personally apologize to you kimbear.

I actually think my dog is starting to think her name is "shut up" because when I say it she stops and kind of looks at me expecting something more.

Kinda funny vent, in a weird sort of way.

My sister, who is fundamentally a horrible woman to begin with (I'm honestly being objective here! She's evil!), decided to pick a big fight with me in the restaurant tonight as we were having my farewell dinner with my parents. She was there with her fiance (her THIRD fiance, by the way...she's twice divorced), and she decided, almost spontaneously, to launch into me about never talking about my writing avocation. I was amused and surprised at her tirade! I've always kept my artistic inclinations mostly private when it comes to my family. I have work published in dozens of magazines and journals, but I literally don't talk about it with my friends or family. It's just my way of separating things, I guess. Well, she has never, EVER said a thing about this before, but she starts yelling at me about how I always shut my family out of my life etc. My father started to butt in, and she promptly shouted, "YOU shut up. You just shut the #### up!" which obviously got HIS hackles raised! She said that it's horrible that I don't talk about my writing, and that I'll probably fall out of contact with her when I move this week, to which I responded, very calmly, "You're probably right about that." She then shut up and didn't say a single word for the rest of the dinner. Fortunately, her fiance still kept conversation going after that, so while it was strangely awkward eating dessert while there was a major cloud over one corner of the table, it was also somewhat amusing to me. Words cannot express how many baseless tirades my sister has launched at me over the years, all the while trying to undermine me, steal any attention I have ever received for anything (she tried to upstage my wedding by announcing her new engagement, but her engagement ring had been mis-shipped, so she couldn't really do it), and all of it has truly been unfounded. That might sound like I'm painting myself in a positive light, but in the most objective sense possible, it's absolutely true! I have never done a thing to negatively impact her...never called her out on her antics etc., and have tried in the past few months to spend some time with her -- going to a movie in December, going to the mall a couple of times...going out to lunch with her and my mother... ALL of this has been out of courtesy, since I will be moving away.

Ultimately, once dinner was done, my father, mother and I walked to our car, and my sister and her fiance trailed about thirty feet behind. I simply got in the car. A moment later, she and her fiance got in hers and she screamed out of the parking lot -- screeching tires and all. I had rather anticipated that something like this would happen since, after all, it was a night that was meant to be a farewell dinner to me. But she just couldn't let it be an amicable evening.

Funnily enough, I returned home and noticed she had "unfriended" me on Facebook. Truth be told, I would have unfriended her too (as mentioned earlier in this thread, it wouldn't be the first time...), but it just gave me one final chuckle. Good riddance though! The only thing that upsets me about it is how it affects my mother, who has always tried to be a peacemaker between any family conflicts. But I just can't be cowed by this spiteful, malicious, jealous woman who happens to be related to me. I have no love for her, and haven't for several years now. This just sums up the reason why.
