takes deep breath.........and here we go! :ranting:

as usual at this time of the year (i.e. tax time) i call farmer's life insurance because i have a life insurance policy with them and included in that policy is a savings account which i chunk about $20 a month. it was all withdrawn back in early '08 for personal reasons, so not much in the account - zero balance from apr 08, accruing at just under $21 a month....

however.....today when i call to find out how much interest was made on the account, i get some gal that has no clue. zero. nada. she tries to tell me that i have over 1k in the account, and $110 was taken out for withholding by the government.

 that would be a first in the 25 years i've had this policy, the government taking money out of the account for tax purposes!

then i ask where my 1099 is, the paper i'm supposed to use to file taxes with on the interest. she first tells me it was sent out within the time frame specified by law - i nail her feet to the floor and ask when that was (it's nlt 31 jan) and she finally confesses it was by 31 jan.

right! i believe that now! <_<

then she blames the post office for me not getting it yet - after all the post office had to lay people off!

mkay, lemme see if i get this straight. i've got at least double the amount of money in there than what i expected there to be, and made about 10 times the interest i expected to make? #######!

i give up on miss nada clue and call back. she was only too happy to get off the phone with me, probably because she knew i could smell the bs through the phone line. this time i get someone who knew what they are talking about.

i have just over $450 in the account and made just under $7 in interest - which is why i didn't get a 1099 as it's less than $10 interest......

i don't ask for much, just for customer service reps to know ####### they are talking about! :protest:

I am never ever EVER buying passport photos from Sam's Club ever again.

Every single one of my photos are cut crooked. None of them are even truly 2x2, it's just terrible.

When I renewed my license in November, it took about three weeks for the card to come in the mail. I received it within a week or so of me moving.

And I hear you about the slips... My company would always wait until the last possible moment, though I doubt they know about the cutoff date, as I recall them sending out slips later than that previously. Hubby has long received, filed and used his refund... whereas I still don't know if I even have one coming.

My vent today:

On the one day I week I don't cook for the family (Thursdays), why can my brother-in-law make something simple, that won't absolutely destroy my stomach the next day??? It's worth cooking seven days a week to not feel like this... despite the hassle.

Wow, and I thought Rogers had cornered the market on stupidity.

I remember visiting my wife one time and was just dumbfounded when she renewed her license at a kiosk at the mall. But then again, I was surprised to see oldsters hanging out at the mall.

You do all the cooking for your family, Sam? Zoiks. What did they do before you got there?

My sister-in-law, who has since married and moved, used to spend upwards of $400/wk of her mom's money on groceries for dinner.

In an effort to ease my mother-in-law's stress over that financial burden, and to offset the fact that hubby and I only pay a piddly amount for rent, I took over all of the cooking for the family. A much, much more involved task than what I believed upon agreeing.

Lol You seriously must be a saint, my family isn't even that picky and they're incredibly horrible to try to cook for. Sounds like the family needs to start learning to love some good ol' fashioned microwaved hot dogs haha :)

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

bump back to page one............

and go!

i wish my former stepmother would take care of her business. i'm tired of collection agencies calling me looking for her! she's never been to my house, i've not had contact with her in over 2.5 years, and yet people still call me looking for her because she sucks at paying her bills. :ranting:

That bites, Mal.

I'm a little worried that my ex-boss will still take his time to send it out, past that date. I so don't relish the idea of contacting him to find out.

A minor vent, but...I was sorely disappointed on my CD binge this morning. As mentioned elsewhere, I've been going to Zulu Records for fourteen years (basically since I could drive), and have always loved it...large store, lots of eclectic music you can't find elsewhere (other than online), great balance of used and new... But today, it sucked. They've changed the layout, shrunk the CD portion of the store to make way for twice as much vinyl, and their selection was uncommonly bad this time around. And prices seem higher. I bought four CDs for $60, and realized afterwards that I could have probably got the same bang for the buck from Amazon. Chances are that that's the last time I drive into Vancouver before I actually leave. It's a shame.
