I think they're hoping that if we close, the kids will all disappear. Like, suddenly their home lives will improve and mom will be home baking cookies after school everyday and everything will be perfect and happy. Their major complaint is that the youth center "draws local kids into town". I wasn't aware that was a BAD thing, per se...but the kids would be in town anyway. On middle school nights, I see high schoolers roaming all over town and vice versa.

What they seem to forget is that about 3 years ago - just before we opened - NO ONE from the neighborhood was able to use the local laundramat because the teenagers had adopted it as their hangout. They harassed the older people, cussed out young mothers, stole clothes, food, etc. from people who tried to interrupt their fun. The owner finally called the police because he lost so much business. What exactly do they think they're going to improve by closing down the ONE place the kids have to hang out?

You would think that they would be really happy that they have a place for their kids to go to that does not involve the back alley or the streets when they are at work. That really sucks. Some people are just complete idiots and wont be happy, no matter what.

You are doing a great job and a valuable service to your community. Dont forget that!

Yes, in addition to the one purse I have though? I couldn't use it all the time. The one I have right now isn't big enough! I like the purse wallet idea, and maybe use it when I don't need my full purse? Hmm, I always carry a book, my sunglasses case is huge, as it's a hard case and I can't find anything thinner for my sunglasses because they're the "over the glasses" sunglasses.

Yes, that's kind of what I already have Krikit. Looks big enough? But all these type are pretty thin. It seems to be bulging! I've had the kind that you can put over your shoulder before, actually one that had a shoulder strap, AND some shorter handles. I just can't find any right now. Maybe because of the time of year, or they're out of fashion...I don't know.

Thanks for your suggestions and advise!

I bought something like this at Target... I would use it for when we went on vacation.... it would fit my camera and all my other stuff...

Target Bag

now I use it as my regular purse.. I really like it...

Hey Carla,

I saw this purse yesterday, don't know if it would work for you or not. I actually have a purse/wallet - I don't know that this one is per se - but it might just fit all your stuff! JCPenney - $48

"You must be loving this! It's like you're at home with all of this snow!"

-Yes minus the lack of organization, and lame snow removal programs, its just like home. Oh and loved the constant news coverage all day Wednesday... I really would have rather watched the view though.

 Me too!! What's with the day-long coverage?

Ohmygosh. I have noticed that they do that with all the local channels. They'll worry a hot news item to death with ongoing coverage. It makes you want to tear your hair out. AtWitsEnd.gif

You should see Vancouver news coverage lately. It's ALL Olympics. "In other news, a child was found murdered in a house on Hastings Street last night. Officials are still tracking the murderer. But back to the Olympics, the forecast isn't good for Cypress Mountain tomorrow, which has officials wondering...blah blah blah..."

Problem is I'm still trying to figure out why they consider a snow storm "hot news."

I still get a kick out of the big rush to the grocery store the day before.

Sounds like my local channel. LOL. In fact, I just emailed my cousin..... when she said she was surprised I wasn't there..... that it isn't bad enough that I wish I was there..... it's the fact that the local news keeps rubbing it in!!!

They still do that.

In fact, I find it fascinating that they will devote the entire news broadcast to the weather. What's even funnier is that I can't tear myself away from it!
