I haven't been sleeping well lately, largely due to the really horrible "bed" I'm sleeping on -- one of those cheap Ikea convertible sofas. It's one of those pieces of furniture that would be fine for a two or three day stay, but since I've been here for over two months, it's starting to get a little old...

Anyhow, I got about 5.5 hours sleep last night, after about 6 hours the night before, so I decided to take an afternoon nap...and I'm really not a nap person! I just barely drift off when the phone rings -- it's my bank, telling me my new U.S. account number. Fine. Great. Whatever. So I just fall back asleep again, and WOOF! goes my parents' black lab, Leroy...followed by some shrill yapping by their dachshund, Fergie (a.k.a. Fergenstein). Who knows what they were barking at... I drift off to sleep again, only to be woken up by sirens nearby. I give it one more try, but it just so happens that the nearby school has gotten out, so the street has a steady procession of teenagers, yapping, giggling and doing whatever teenagers do...NOISILY!

I just wanted to get some sleep.

Fark. I bought cigarettes again.

I had one... and I must admit it was so nice.

I threw the rest away. Nice waste of 8.00 for 5 minutes of complete calm though.

Rough day at work, rough day coming home. Now I'm content... but short 8.00 :P

Thanks for letting me share... you guys are the best.

This is one of those days that I am having a hard time leaving work at work. Normally, I am pretty good at that (because I learned that, to survive in my field, you need to separate) ... But tonight, right before leaving, I got a crisis call from a client. Sometimes all the pain and trauma and ####### that can happen to people really gets to me and I'm just feeling so sad right now and exhausted too.

I had an idea they were important but I didn't care enough to do anything about it (except to eat healthy)...until I'm pregnant. Now I'm taking prenatals, iron, calcium, and fish oils...all spaced out throughout the day. Why do they make them pills so huge? I almost gag on them.

Reven-Glad that you are taking your vitamins! That's a great start for your baby, indeed!

Lol...I still take those vitamins and more......(as still nursing the baby..)

As for huge pills....1) Cut them up! Try using a pill cutter or something 2) Get the chewable form of those vitamins (works well with calcium...and yes, flintstone chewable vitamins are ok too..lol..) 3) Take your vitamins with something other than water (milk, juice, etc....something that makes it go down easier)...

Hope this helps too.

Grr. So, yesterday I purchased an IRA so we could get the benefits for our 2009 tax year. She asked which account ( we have several) we wanted to pay for it and I said the savings account that has the largest amount in it and asked her to verify the amount in the savings account. She looked it up and said it has $XXX dollars - and I said, yes, that is the one we want to use - take the money from there. So we finish the process, I have my receipt and everything - and today, my husband gets an email notice that we have insufficient funds in our checking account and there is a fee that we have to pay for having insufficient funds. So, he goes and checks - and yes - the woman didn't take the money for the IRA from the savings account that I requested - and that we discussed - she withdrew it from our checking account. So, first thing tomorrow morning I have to go back and demand that they put the fee they deducted from our account back into our account because they were the ones who made the mistake by not following the requested directions and Joe wants a written apology. If we hadn't even discussed the details of which account, ok, fine - but we had specifically talked about and I had asked her to verify that the amount was in the savings account before I agreed to have the money withdrawn for the IRA. I also need to make sure that they correct all the documentation regarding this so it is recorded as their error and we don't have an NSF notice going on our credit account. Grr.

Might be a good idea to do all my running and around and correction of other's errands tomorrow as well. The endocrinologist sent me a bill saying the insurance company hadn't paid it and so we had to - and then had the annoyance of sticking a sticker on the invoice saying if we continued to ignore this bill it would go to collections! This is the first notice we have received from them for any outstanding amount so that really irked me - but the worst of it is, they have been paid by the insurance company and I have the insurance company's summary showing how much and when they were paid, also indicating that all we owe is the co-pay which was paid on the date of service. So, pull that receipt and the statement and 'bell that cat' too.

I have another outstanding medical claim I also need to address where they overcharged me saying that this was the amount the insurance company said was our responsibility - and found out that it isn't our responsibility - it is the difference between their contracted agreement and their regular price - and NOT our responsibility. I might wait until next week to get that one sorted out - it is in the exact opposite direction. Since I need to show them the documented proof it is easier to do these corrections in person than through the phone and such. Someone needs to put me on the payroll for all of the time I spend correcting other peoples' errors.

Busy day tomorrow,

takes a deep breath............................and here we go!

just spent about 2.5 hours on the phone trying to book a plane trip for myself, nessa, and baby boy to go visit brazil at the end of march. the orbitz rep, who i'll refer to as "miss don't have a clue" found my account in orbitz, saw that nessa and i had a previous trip in oct 2008, and everything was going great until we got to the part about passports. oh no, nessa cannot fly on her brazilian passport. and why not? she just can't - can she get a us passport? um no!

apparently miss don't have a clue, even though she was told at the start that nessa has a green card, thought that nessa was going to use her brazilian passport to enter the usa on. um no, that's what the green card is for.

and she obviously couldn't relay the above information correctly to her supervisor, as the supervisor denied the booking of the plane trip too!

after about 30 minutes, i was livid, to put in mildly. "you mean to tell me that you can't book a plane trip because she has a brazilian passport, the same one she used in 2008?" :ranting: :ranting: :ranting: connect me to your supervisor!

after about 25 minutes on hold, i finally get the supervisor and after asking point blank what the problem is. miss don't have a clue thought nessa was going to use her brazilian passport to enter the usa. i pointed out to the supervisor that nessa has a green card. the plane tickets are booked with the passport, and nessa shows her brazilian passport to enter brazil, but she uses the green card to get back into the states.

the supervisor acknowledged that this is correct and that miss don't have a clue will get more training......

finally, after about 2.5 hours on the phone, going back and forth over this and that, we got the plane tickets booked and the supervisor waived the $25 per ticket booking fee ($75 total) due to miss don't have a clue's ineptness.

Wow. I'd like to vent that I'm feeling stressed after reading all your vents!

I watched Kitchen Nightmares (new season for anyone that cares). It was good and strange. It was a family in NJ that had a restaurant called Flamangos (no wyatt, not Flamingos).

It has all this very corny 'tropical' decor, but the people were the clinchers. The Mother was such a stick in the mud whiner.

OMG, I watched that show! What a witch she was! :o And what a horrible restaurant. I would never eat there. lol

Ant, I can't cut the fish oil pills up...the oil will leak! And uh, I'm one of the few peeps out there who gag on the taste of chewable vitamins, even if they're made for kids.

There's no hope for me.

I just got a panicked phone call from my last client.

Apparently in the week since I've stopped working for them, they managed to take my elegant solution (which I was very proud of) and break it irreparably.

They aren't even capable of describing what they did to it in a fashion that would let me help them out.

/sigh

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

My daughter has had tonsillitis pretty much since December. She's been on antibiotics going on time 4(they don't seem to help much at all), and she can't get into the specialist until March 11. Went to the hospital yesterday and got a prescription for steroids for 5 days to see if they will help. She's having a hard time breathing, eating and sleeping because she is so swollen. Dr. yesterday called the specialist to see about getting her in sooner and SURPRISE she's away until the 17. Not to mention the school she's missed and the work I have missed.

SO frustrated!!! Feel bad I can't do anything to make her feel better.

Sdw, are they giving her different antibiotics? I had chronic tonsillitis as a kid and my doctor finally put me on some very strong pills - the kind where you only take three horse pills and they last 10 days. That finally got rid of it for good for me.

She been on 2 different ones, plus a gargle to help numb. The latest is prednisone for 5 days to help with the swelling hopefully. She's had 4 swap to check for strep, as well as blood work to check for mono. Our dr says they need to come out. Ear, nose and throat specialist wait is just crazy.

I am going to give this stuff til tomorrow to see if it helps and if not think I'll go to the hospital yet again. You can tell by looking at her neck how swollen she is. She has about the size of a finger tip opening at the back of her throat.

I don't agree with your GP about taking them out. They do still work. It sucks though that the ENT wait is so long. :(

I hope you find a solution soon. I know how terrible it is.
