Arrrgh. Just got taken in by one of those 'national home services' people claiming they want to exchange my water heater for an energy-efficient one. I'm not the sort of person to get scammed by these things (am usually paranoid and jaded), I repeatedly felt (and said) I was uncomfortable and didn't want to sign anything. Am so upset at the pressure tactics used. :( Husband just called them and told them to cancel whatever appointment they had made for us and to stick their dodgy business practices where the sun don't shine.

But I still feel v. humiliated that I even let the guy into the house.

Like this week hasn't been stressful enough, what with filing my I-130...

Thank you guys for brightening up my day *big big big hug*

It is just one of those days where I am just, "UGH". I feel like Im in limbo again, and Im worried about my GC application as I havent heard anything about it (yes, I know, its early and I need to stop whining). But after some time of self-pity, I told myself Ive been through worse recently (ie. not knowing the K1 visa interview, which my god was just a few months ago, and the Canada Post fiasco) and things worked out for the best.

I really dont hate life *winks at Life*. I was just feeling really bad today... and to top it off, as I was scrubbing the bathroom floors, our washing machine acted up and started shaking really bad and my laundry soap, which we keep on top of the washer/dryer, (big, HUGE tub) fell on my head. Sigh. I know. Its not really life's fault, but I got so mad I had to write how angry I was :P And after, I slipped off the steps... again :P

I feel guilty for being such a whiner when I am really fortunate to be with my husband and have a good life. But today was just one of those days! But no worries, I made some cookies and bread and after reading Charles' post and seeing the wonderful support from the vent thread (and more!), I feel much better :)

Thank you thank you.

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Don't feel bad, birdnerd. I succumbed to the same situation once. Did you sign anything? Because you have to write a rescindment notice in order to get out of it. I'll try and find the relevant link.

I'm looking for cheap fare to Montreal from Philly for my hubby's interview. Low and behold I find it on Amtrak for $83... YAY, that's great!! Then I look at the departure time from 30th Street Station in Philadelphia... 5:52AM. How the heck am I supposed to get there at that time? The first train that takes me down there won't get me there until 6:15. If its on time. The next train leaves at 6:30, but its $155.... I don't want to run the chance that the first train is late and I miss the train all together and I am forced to spend a fortune last minute to get to Montreal. The other option is to take the last train down there the night before and wait 6 hours for my first train making a long trip (over 12 hours on 2 Amtrak trains) even longer! Why oh Why Amtrak must you do this to me??? :crying:

Hmmm...isn't it only a seven hour drive from Philly to Montreal? Wouldn't it be more worthwhile to drive up?

I have a sick feeling my car won't make it and besides, someone will need to drive his stuff over the border after his approval. I'm staying up there with him to help bring his things here.

Thanks Krikit! I unfortunately did sign, but is easily rescindable. Husband sent me the link with a sample letter about 10 minutes after I called him in tears. I felt very bullied into it, and kept saying 'I'm not comfortable signing anything until I've spoken to my husband, etc', yet the guy still seemed...nice. But very pushy.

I wrote the letter tonight, husband will fax it tomorrow. And I never want to think about this experience again. <_<

Link is here, in case anyone has the same problem:

Cancel a contract

I spent 81 hrs on 3 Amtrak trains. :P

I didn't realize Amtrak had service all the way to Timbuktu! ^_^

That's a long train ride.

But on the bright side, no derailments!

Could be worse.

One of my friends is obsessed with thinking he can handle his liquor.

Last time I went drinking with him, he ended up talking about marinara volcanoes and the one ring before passing out. His wife kindly opened the drapes to let the sunlight in a couple hours later.

*chortle*

Be glad it was vodka and not absythne, as tasty as absythne is.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."
